Archmage spellshaping and potions during combat

ever since i took Spellshaping for Lucas (my archmage), i've had instability with potions, mostly during situations where i NEED them NOW. Healing potions, restoration potions, even barkskin seem to fail during combat. in addition, there's a few non-hostile spells that (when spellshaping is activated) seem to nullify the effect. Like casting spiderskin on an ally, it will fail immediately. but casting something on yourself wouldn't fail, i've been using healing kits and wands to keep myself alive, but those require MORE gold than simply buying potions. Plus kits are far heavier than potions. Im not sure if spellshaping is the issue with the potions, but i know its the issue with failed wards that target allies.

I assume by spellshaping, you mean Mastery of Shapes? The one where you can cast fireballs at friends without hurting them? I'm not sure how it affects potions, but I can imagine the script might work so that you can't actually affect friendlies with spells. Rasael will have to confirm that, though. I'll post this in QC.

Mastery of Shaping does exactly that. It's a known issue. It's not a few non-hostile spells: NO SPELL has effect on allies, unless it's a cloud spell (unaffected). This does not include non-party members or friendly NPCs (you'll still kill them...believe me, I know...).
Mastery of Shaping to my knowledge does not affect potions, but if you have Mastery of Elements active, there is a chance Heal Potions will damage you according to the toggled element. I could not recreate this effectively so far: it rarely happens.
Put Mastery of Shaping on the quickbar, and check often if you have it active or not before casting, to avoid surprises...

Is there even a chance that Mastery of Shaping will be fixed? I mean, what if they were to JUST add a line to effect only offensive AoE (blast or cone) spells? You know, like "Affected Spells: Fireball, Deadly Lahar, Horrid Wilting, etc". Tedious, but really, how logical is it that I can cast spiderskin on myself but not my ally?

You can. But you need to disable MoS.
Keep on your quickbar, so that you can toggle it on/off according to your needs.

The problem I was facing yesterday was even after toggling off Spell shaping and downing a potion, it had no effect until i drank the 5th one... so i drank 5 to only get the use of one. I'm debating rcr'ing entirely to get rid of it.

This, I have never noticed...
But then again, after 2 years I am lvl 30, I don't drink many heal potions: generally, everything is dead before my extra HP are even over...
QUESTION: did you RCR out of Blood Magus anytime? I heard some players had this very problem for a time when they did that.

I think after toggling spell shaping off you need to wait 6seconds ( a round ) and then use any consumables. This was done to prevent any exploits.

No, Lucas was never a blood mage, he's a Wiz (base), arcane scholar (secondary), and an Archmage (primary). that was the build i had always went with for him.
As for the 6 second wait, that might be the issue. But right now im waiting for a DM to help with a little rcr-ing problem. I decided to rcr Lucas and remove spell shaping all-together. Problem is, i made a fatal error in rebuilding him, and took extend metamagic on accident, where i had meant to take skill focus (concentration). So now, Lucas sits in the Nexus, waiting for the DM team to talk it over. The worst part of it, was that i missed a guild event specifically over this matter.
