Background:
Abandoned at birth due to his reptilian eyes and raised by an elderly woman in the slums of luskan. When Ashe was five, his adopted mother was beaten savagely and robbed for three copper pieces. She died of her injuries, leaving Ashe to fend for himself. Utterly alone, abandoned, and deeply angry, Ashe survived by his wits (INT 18), his intuition, (WIS 14), and his quick reflexes (starting DEX 18) in the harsh environment of the Luskan docks district. He necessarily learned to fight well and when he was of age acted as a seaman and guard on several merchant vessels and privateers. He excelled at combat, driven by his anger and antipathy of the world that shunned him, and drew the attention of a prominent and wealthy Luskan merchant. The merchant hired Ashe to guard his caravans through the treacherous roads between Luskan, the Ten Towns, Waterdeep, and Neverwinter. Ashe learned much of the wilderness in these times, often spending weeks in the wilds without reaching towns. His canny intellect and ability to read people caused the merchant to promote him to a negotiator for his business. Ashe excelled in his duties and was amassing a respectable sum of money.

There were those who envyed him, however, and a corrupt capatain of the guard led his company on a raid against a caravan led by Ashe. They ransaked the wagons, overwhelmed the guards, including Ashe, and left them all for dead. Ashe's wounds were fatal and he would likely have succumbed had not a pair of hooded strangers atop a small wagon passed by soon after the attack. Finding the others dead, the took Ashe with them and nursed him back to health at their small monestary.

The strangers were monks, Broken Ones, who followed Ilmater. They saw potential for good within Ashe and sought to free him from his bitterness. He was intrigued by the monks as they were the first people who showed him kindness. He trained with them and learned to release his anger. He grew in scholarship, understanding, and discipline in combat. When the monks felt they had nothing more to teach Ashe, they sent him south toward Baldur's Gate with the charge to release the fear and anger of abandonment and discipline his body and mind that he might find peace.

Goals:
Ashe seeks to further free himself from the bitterness of his abandoned upbringing and grow in goodness and discipline.

Ashe is a scholar and follows Oghma, colleging knowledge and learning and distributing it to those who will listen.
