Hi there,

i am aiming to build a simple wisdom monk, thats probably been built a hundred times before. Could someone take a look at it and tell me if i missed something or if there is room for improvement?

Thanks!

The build isn't public.

Possibly you should think about Sacred Fist with Gray Orc - Mo20/Cl3/SF7. Your base BAB increases by 2, even without the spells. http://nwn2db.com/build/?226781

But if you really want to be pure I have a few suggestions:

Forget Steadfast Determination - it will crucify your Will Save.

You can't take Fiery Fist with less than 13 Dex IIRC. I'm guessing you changed the build after including it.

I'd minmax my stats less and change them - as I did in my example. Those 6 points you spent getting the last 2 points of Wisdom can buy a lot when scattered round elsewhere.

I wasn`t aware that steadfast actually uses the lower score. I thought it was the higher wisdom score that would be aplied. Your build looks fine. It misses the blazing aura feat. I was set for monk 30 but i might reconsider. As is i updated the build. I might go for improved criticals but i was hoping to gain that with an item. I would use a ring of the knight on this one.

Yes, you should take Blazing Aura. In that case maybe start with 1 more Wis. I'd always want to get 16 Str though, because you have +4 Str from Bulls or +6 from Divine Power. Str = damage and also improves your KD.

In effect i seem to trade 10 SR for level9 divine casting. Aside from that the builds seem very similar in power to me. A good tradeof i guess. I tend to give it a try. I would use the starting stats as you set them. Until level 27 i will know if i can get my hands on a +4 wis item or just use the last epic feat for armor skin. Thanks Thorsson.

You lose fist damage 3d8 -> 2d10, but you gain Sacred Flames. You gain 20' speed as Monk caps out at 18. You gain Uncanny Dodge, which works on BGTSCC.

If they fix the caster/character level bug you will be subject to dispel, but you will have a lot of casts of enhancing spells and IKD is a good defence against spellcasters.

Still, a high SR is no defence against Wizards either.

Regarding Steadfast: Con modifier is always used for Will saves, even if your Wis modifier is higher?
The nwn2wiki says that "You can use your Constitution modifier in place of your Wisdom modifier on Will saves". So this translates to "you use your constitution modifier..."?

Steadfast takes the higher of wisdom and constitution. In my opinion it's a great choice.

I stand corrected then. It has been written earlier, without contradiction, that it takes Con whatever. When you tested did you use the combat log?

You could go either ... even without ANY buffs, Thorssons build is a VERY nice build. I'd still try to squeeze in Steadfast but it probably isn't really needed, I just hate having a pc with high saves and still being able to fail saving throws!

One thing you might want to consider - being an orc in the UD sucks!!!!

I've heard that Circle Kick is bugged and problematic. At first I wanted to take it, but I've heard it screws up your attacks. Is this true?
Also, I'm not sure I would take Weapon focus for the small AB bonus. Perhaps it's worth it...If you don't want to cross class UMD perhaps Able learner could be an option instead, also you might use extra points for other social skills like intimidate if you want to.

Edit: as for UD monks, sure a Grey Orc might work but they are not native to the Underdark iirc. A Tanarukk monk might work, but since they are usually fodder for other races perhaps they are not too likely as monks.
I tried a duergar monk, and that worked well. There is also a lore basis for duergar monks ("Graven servants" exist in the the city of Drik Hargunen... according to the Underdark sourcebook).
