Lore Question? Maybe?

Hey guys, I need some help. I'm currently playing a character whom I'm very much enjoying mechanically. I generally like to improv their backgrounds and make stuff up as I play them.

However, this one is baffling me, due to a strange choice of classes. My brain has creatively gone dead, and the improv is just not helping me out this time.

The Lore regarding this, is I would like to find a 'real' organization within Faerun that could explain these skills.

So do you guys have any background ideas where she would have obtained a combination of skills resulting in these classes?

Monk-Rogue-Assassin

All of your brain juices will be much appreciated. Can't wait to see your creative minds, because mine is empty!

If you can't find a suitable organization that already exists in FR lore, you could always create one. Would be difficult to claim its very big or well known, but could have a small, regional organization that explains your PCs background and his class-combo.

Would it be allowed to have the monk class via means of having one Master, detached from an organization? Or does one have to belong to a Monastary

Edit; Also does the Assassin guild require a guild affiliation?

Cult of the Shadow.

or

Mask Worshippers - Order of Shadows (LE)

- These monks are excellent at sneaking as well as making business deals. There are not many in this order and they are very reluctant to train new recruits especially those that hold a very high place in other guild ranks.

As far as I'm aware the monk orders from the Candlekeep page are homebrewed. They are better than nothing though.

It may help if you don't think of traditional representations of the classes, rouge doesn't mean thief and assassin doesn't mean killer for hire.

For example think Monk / Diplomat / problem removal or spy.

He could be a Thayan monk recently attached to the enclave as diplomatic attaché, trained in diplomacy (and the underhanded means of obtaining info) who when faced with advisory he cannot get leverage on/smear will drop a little poison in their wine.

Just one example, there's plenty more as long as you don't get 'blinkered' by rouge=thief or assassin=killer for hire.

Well you've already played a while, but perhaps as a Zhent monk, Order of the Iron Gauntlet?
http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4009
Stealth and assassination focus.
The order is (briefly) mentioned in Lords of Darkness:
"Mara Kalaliv (LE female half-elf Mnk6) leads the Order of the Iron Gauntlet, a small group of Zhent monks who worships Bane. Mara has been given orders by Scyllua to actively recruit members into the Black Gauntlet and train them in stealth and assassination."
Could work as combined assassin/spy/diplomat (lots of social skills from rogue) for the Zhents, either previously or currently.
