Undead Remains?

Hi.
Do Undead Remains serve a purpose? I've been all over Baldur's Gate several times looking for someone who will take them, but I can't find anyone. I assume I've missed a quest somewhere and they're clogging up my inventory.

There is an individual in the BG-Farmlands east that takes them (to the right of the graveyard entrance, near a tent). He pays you 25 gp for each undead remains. It's how most lowlevels earn gold

Don't worry, a lot of high levels are also poor, so that's not why you're poor!
