Recently I've been asked to DM a 5e game with some friends. Going through player manual's and monster manual's has me thinking about you guys a lot. Soo...I awkwardly ask how is everyone? I hope you are all well?

I've heard some really good things about 5e! I like what they've done a lot of places with the rules, as they've been explained to me with Advantage and Disadvantage in the combat system, and how even a dragon can be defeated by enough level 1 peasants. (enough in this case might mean 4-8 hundred, but still! me likes!)
Things here are well and good, I hope that you've been having fun as well... if you want, you're always welcome to drop by on the forum or even on the server

I've just started playing a PBEM 5th edition campaign. Given the limitations of such a format the streamlined rules of 5th ed. are infinitely preferable to 3.5's ruleset. But having actually read the PHB in some detail I think I just like it better anyway. I admit this is a highly personal opinion but the step back from crunch and builds (while still presenting options) really lets the storytelling and RP come into focus.
The shortening of the power curve is something I really like too, Considerate. It makes balance easier, it maintains immersion of the world (IMO) as the D&D system is broken by big numbers. It also makes adventuring DANGEROUS which is nice - those goblins can always kill you - it just takes more of them at higher levels. You are never invulnerable, which is good.
I realise this post is a massive detour. Sorry for the hijack and nice to hear from you Bluehero!

Blue! Good to hear from you. Teo missed having conversations with Rhys. Hope the old boy is well enough in his tower.
