Long input delay?

Hello everyone,
I'm a brand new player, just downloaded the game yesterday, and got around to making my first character this afternoon. I had no problems for the first few minutes, but now I am experiencing 10-20 seconds of delay. Is this latency problem on my end or is it something about the server? Has anyone experienced this before?
Thanks in advance!
Grom

Hi Tenshi! Welcome to the server!
Unfortunately, the server -- and much of the Neverwinter Nights 2 community as a whole -- is currently suffering from intermittent DDOS attacks. Although our server has some DDOS protection, the end result is that there are some latency (lag) issues.
This should disappear for you once the attacks subside. And, we hope, permanently once we find a way to end them.
If this is occurring all the time, even when the server is not being hit with DDOS traffic, then there may be a different issue. Are you using the NWN2 Client Extension add-on?

Thanks for the reply!
No, I am not using that extension currently.

You can also experience issues like this (though usually like 5-10 seconds but I guess could be more) if you have an older router and others on the network are watching YouTube/Netflix or some other high bandwidth service.

Not sure where you are gaming from, but sometimes being on the wrong side of the planet can slow things down. As a player connecting from Asia I can say that I have some of the slowest connection times (and thus lag) on the server.

I meant to post this,
mea culpa. Here's a link to the client extension:

If you care to use this to log into the game, it affords you some extra controls and shows all the servers on multiplayer. I'm definitely not an expert on it, but it's well-liked by many in the community.
