Bug? Ranged Touch Attacks auto-missing

Levelling a warlock is doubly dangerous because some mobs just refuse to let you hit them even when you're supposed to. (edit: removed screenshots) I'm not sure if this has to do with Deflect Arrow or not, but seeing as I have Unarmed Strike to supposedly counter that I don't know what to make of it.

I noticed it first with the boss in the gibberling caverns, then with one or two other boss like mobs, but now on a plain bugbear scout. I've noticed that the first attack is allowed to hit (or miss, if the roll is bad) but most subsequent attacks auto-fail with two stars ** instead of (hit) or (miss), which perhaps suggests it IS linked to deflect arrow since they on the first attack count as flat-footed.

I assume you have an item equiped? If so unequip it and you will be able to hit them. This is a known bug when the opponent has deflect arrow and you have any weapon equiped.

Really? I'll try that. Is it better where this bug is concerned to always be unarmed?

Yes you have to be unarmed when you use ranged touch attack against a mob with deflect arrow. In any case, if you have a weapon equipped and you see the ** on your combat log, unequip the weapon.

Yeah, (ranged) touch attack and everything related is a hardcoded function that works poorly in relation to equipped weapons and their bonuses.

There is a prototype replacement in the BGTSCC Jegs module. If its agreeable we can see about using that. It works differently though, so heads-up. Its only a proof-of-concept.
