Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

The character currently has high dex and high int. Wiz 5 / Swashbuckler 2 / EK 2

As I progress through the next 11 levels I am trying to decide between adding Duelist or Frost Mage PrC. My original plan was for Duelist, but everyone keeps telling me that high level wizards (or other arcane casters) are quite strong so I am not sure I want to give up however many levels of spell progression on a non-caster PrC.

Any advice?

Absolutely not. They don't tell me anything anymore!

But my general theory of things is that, based on my own play style, it takes me soooooooo very long to get to Epic Levels, that by the time I'd reach CL 25, they actually might (put the Dispel Bug fix in!

It depends on how will your char fight. If it is a and buffer and then kill with a weapon, then you want some AB, so I would go with a melee PrC like Duelist, or maybe you can consider Dragonslayer for the spell progression or even Dread Pirate if your style is with two weapons for some extra goodies. If you prefer the throwing spells way, then AB is not important, so you may choose an arcane PrC. But, as I said, it depends entirely on your style and RP.

For my experience the Practiced Spellcaster feat is a must if you mix arcane or divine with other classes. Just think about a Bull Strenght spell; it lasts 4 more minutes. Or a spell that lasts 1 round per caster level; it means 4 more rounds.

For how your build goes, it seems you want to have 5 lvls in Swashbuckler for Insightful Strike, am I right? So I think your build will be much better with it.

Anyway, I think you will have less doubts if you plan your char with the builder, it really helps. A lot.

Good point, I forgot that. Maybe some invisible blade levels could be sacrificed or switched to duelist.

The object of both IB & Duelist is to get some extra AC. Tempest would also work. Possibly instead you could take 4 Fighter levels and get the TWD Feat line.

There really are not enough spellsword-type PrCs to go around IMO. Its nice to see others attempting the archetype. Heck, I might even suggest making E. Knight a 20-level PrC!

I'm surprised it's not more common. As for 20 level PrC, I'd do it. It'd simplify things in terms of a final possible class.

As of now I'm planning to go Duelist after EK is finished. I will make a new character that will be full caster.

Eldritch Knight / Gishes are already one of the more powerful PvE builds. Making EK 20 levels would be the definition of OP... W6/F4/EK20... BAB 27, CL 29 (PSC), Autostill 0-9, etc.... Currently in order to get BAB 26 and CL 25+ you have to make a Wizard/EK/DS/HA, giving up a lot of feats (and thus damage) to do so. Most feel the 6th attack is not worth it and they are probably right. However, this build would possibly be even stronger than the EDM Favored Souls running around the server...

So I'm gonna say making EK a 20 level PRC is not likely. Especially since no other PRC's go past 10 and this one would define power spike for an already extremely powerful PRC.
