Is it possible to have a universal basic melee (or ranged) attack ability added, so that it can be dragged to the hot bar and activated with a keystroke?

It appears that in NWN there is no button to initiate a simple attack without right clicking a monster and selecting Attack. Monsters can be selected with the tab key but beyond that you actually have to Mouse over to hit them.

For some players this may not be an issue but for those of us with very dark and/or small monitors (or big ones that are physically far away) not having a simple keystroke to attack the selected target without a special ability can be a bit of a hassle. Sometimes I can't see the mob very well, or more frequently someone else is fighting it and I accidentally click my party member to attack rather than the monster.

Again this probably isn't a problem for people with big screens that they sit close to... For others it is a bit of a pain.

I'm going from the top of my head but :

1. Go to settings, Controls
2. In the tab where you set movement etc look for "Perform Primary Action" (or something similar). it doesn't have anything assigned.
3. Assign something.

I personally assigned mouse 4, due to having a 5 button mouse. Before I had such a mouse, I assigned Q, which normally corresponds to sidestepping which is rarely if ever used and can be done by going into character mode and pressing A/D


It is almost critical for a well executed sneak archer. Target the enemy, get closer, hover mouse in direction of escape, hit "Execute primary action" then click after you loose your flurry.

This will make things soooooo much easier.

Go go alt tabbing between enemies and hitting T for punching them. Makes it so much easier to navigate in large battles ^^
