Background: Born and raised in the village of Wayfork, or more accurately, the farms around Wayfork. He spent his entire youth learning his family’s trade and the skills needed to raise livestock and tend the crops. In the year 1351, the village of Wayfork was attacked and destroyed by an undead horde. Those in the village at the time of the attack made it to safety with the help of some brave adventurers from the southern city of Baldur’s Gate, but those out in the fields and surrounding farmlands perished during the attack. Isaiah was returning to his family’s house just as the attack was underway only to find his family partially eaten by the zombies that slowly marched south. He picked up a nearby scythe, the only weapon within reach, and attempted to defend himself. He cut through many undead, but they were endless. In a moment of hopelessness, a voice called out to Isaiah offering help in return for a portion of the young man’s soul. Exhausted and surrounded by the undead horde, Isaiah accepted the deal of the voice that claimed to be a servant of the mighty Helm. A moment later, Isaiah was filled with a strength he had never felt. Revitalized, he noticed that the zombies were ignoring him. He made his way south to Wayfork where he watched as the villagers disappeared before his very eyes. He watched as a lone woman shrouded in shadows headed towards the Wayfork cemetery. Fearing he was outmatched, he slowly made his way away from the zombie horde. When he reached the edge of the horde, he made his way south along the Trade Way. He helped those along the way that were under attack by the undead that plagued the Sword Coast. Having very limited combat abilities, he slowly learned to focus his newfound powers. He learned that he could turn invisible at will and call upon shadows to hide him. He continued south, staying just out of sight of the undead horde, until they reached the Fields of the Dead. He continued to Baldur’s Gate where he learned that the Wayfork villagers that survived were under the guardianship of the city, and more importantly, the Temple of Ilmater. Isaiah then learned that his younger sister survived the attack at Wayfork, though she has been missing since they arrived.
Goals:Find his sister, Fight undead, uncover the secrets of his power and the mysterious voice that sometimes offers him guidance, find his place in the world
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:A quest to find his sister, who was possibly kidnapped by a noble, taken by bandits, perhaps even became a bandit, try to find a way to rebuild Wayfork, perhaps a search to find the being that has “gifted” him his powers
