Though I have devour magic and I am following the correct actions in order to counter spell... after I make my spell craft check it is telling me that my cl check is 0. Anyone know why this is happening and if there is a way to fix it?

You are trying to counterspell another warlocks devour magic? Or anything that's arcane or divine?
My warlock could only counterspell other warlocks. And only spells he himself had would be countered. Otherwise he would get that same message in the combat log.

No... was trying to counter spell non-warlocks. So we can not counter spell wizards and clerics, even though they can counter spell one another without having the spell in their spell book?

Warlock invocations are not categorized by school (I think?), unlike sorcerer and wizard spells. The Improved Counterspelling feat permits an arcane or divine spellcaster to counter any spell with a spell of the same school but one level higher (eg. a wizard can counter a cleric's 7th level Destruction spell with an 8th level Horrid Wilting).

Dispel magic can be used as a universal counterspell, but only for spells of its level or lower, -and- the caster must succeed at a dispel caster-level check to successfully disrupt the countered spell. Eg. one could use Dispel Magic (3rd level) to counter a Fireball, but one would need Greater Dispelling (level 6) to counterspell a Greater Fireburst. Mords, of course can counterspell any non-epic spell assuming the dispel check succeeds.

One would have to determine what is the effective spell level for Devour Magic, and then ask whether it should (or could) be able to be used as a universal counterspell (pending dispel check) for spells lower than its effective caster level.

Devour Magic has an innate (spell) level of 6, the same as Greater Dispel.

A fair reasoning for not allowing warlocks the ability to counterspell other casters is that they could do so an infinite amount of times, where other casters only got X amount of counterspells before being dried up. Now I don't know if improved counterspelling will allow any sort of access for invocation to counter arcane/divine but I could honestly not see the balance being held if it did.

Considering devour magic caps at cl 20 we do have limits, but I just tested counter spell against another warlock and found the same thing. Next I will find a divine or arcane caster to attempt to counter spell me and will get back to you guys.

Arcane and divine can counter spell warlocks, but we can not do the same in return....

Sounds like a bug!

Rasael halp I do not mind them being able to counter spell me, but I'd like to be able to do the same in return if they can >.<
