Hello!

Looking for a really smooth running antivirus to protect my PC. Something that doesnt recognize my skyrim nexus modder as a threat and start deleting random programs. (Panda cloud)

Anyone use any really smooth running low impact antiviruses?

Very good Anti virus, Low stress on the CPU but actively scans.

Easy to set exclusions on programs and other such things.

I personally have been using Bullguard for about the last seven years and I think it's great. It's designed to be compatible with all manner of games and online gaming especially, and has all other neat features such as link-scanner (preventing you from accessing a weblink loaded with viruses), real time-scanning and other nice goodies.

The only problem I've had with it has been during a quick-scan or full computer scan (which i schedule daily/weekly respectively) which can be a bit CPU intensive especially when running other CPU intensive programs. But if you schedule them for times when you're not using your computer (eg. while cooking dinner!) then you don't even notice it's there until it warns you of a hacking attempt or virus/malware (but the popups do not appear if you're in another program, eg. a game, but will appear when you tab out or close it).

And even better, its on special at the moment if you like what you see from a free trial (up to 30 days, but the sale ends in 10 days!)

AVG Free, Nod32, Kaspersky, and Comodo are the only AVs with extensive definitions. Just use their exception options.

I'm going to vouch for Kaspersky or Comodo. Comodo probably has the best customization for the firewall if that is important to you too.

I don't use antivirus on my pc at all, dont need them. I work with IT security and see most of software I don't want with bare eyes, or some small and handy utilities. Works alright (windows haven't been reinstalled since 2009)
For our customers whom we monitor, I recommend ESET Endpoint. If I don't want to take any risk and particularly dislike that client - I recommend Kaspersky. It slows down PC considerably, but it does its job.

I've always had good luck with Avast however I am a very careful internet user in the first place so I cannot say for certain whether it is the antivirus software or my own reticence that is keeping my computers safe. My wife's computer is also protected with Avast and she is a facebook/pinterest/whatever else junkie. YMMV.
