I really don't care you can heal (rant)

So I recently rolled a cleric and began RPing a goodly sort that goes out of his way to help people. Sadly I ran into a roadblock almost immediately. Everyone and their mother immediately tells me "Don't heal me I do that on my own". Seriously. . . I am a cleric, I do like 1 thing - heal. I'd say about 1/3rd of the server will advise you not to heal them and the other 2/3rds look at it as a "meh, I can do that but ok" type of thing. I have only ever had one character that reacted like that myself however this was back when fast healing 3 was a thing and he had it along with 700 + hp unbuffed. I am not even talking about divine casters either. Pure fighters and rogues and stuff are telling me to pike off.
It gets worse - I practically have to race people to use my raise dead spell. The problem I think is that raise dead scrolls are extremely common. You can even buy them if you don't feel like searching a few dungeons for them. My own cleric had two of them by level 6 from the hilltop ruins for example. This means that a pure fighter can raise the dead and heal himself without any issue or worry about spending too much. No scrolls? No problem, chances are you are within a few transitions of a temple that will rez your buddy for a mere 500 coins. At that price it is probably easier and more efficient to pay than to RP with a cleric standing outside the FAI for a minute as they, being super excited to do something ICC (in cleric character) for a change, want to talk about their deity for a moment first.. Dying has really become trivial.

But realy, cleric RP is appreciated, and healing is just a small part of it. Try to focus on other aspects. I had always found cleric a challenging class, because they are so commited to deities I don't dig, practicaly, at all. Seeing others do it is fun.

I shortened it for you. And I agree.

I think the advice I've received ig from the cleric, and the guidance, and the teaching FAR TRUMPS the healing/raising aspect in game.. for me.. The RP is intense and meaningful, unless you focus on the mechanics..

I played a cleric before and the real value in healing comes with Heal and Mass Heal. When you get spells like that people will be very appreciative of having you around. Resurrection is also good in a combat setting as opposed to raise dead. That 700hp fast healing dwarf just went down? Well get him back on his feet and in the fight again with a resurrection spell!
*pats the cleric on the back*

It isn't just dying, healing itself is trivial. While some classes have maintained their natural standing (wizards cant DPS forever, rogues cant tank well etc) all classes can use healing kits and raise scrolls no training required. Almost everyone has a regen cape too. Healing spells are great placeholders for real spells that get used outside of a few select events and the low levels.
Even if raise dead scrolls required divine magic training half the server has UMD anyways. So ya getting rid of them would be kind of nice from an RP perspective. Grinders would hate it though. No more "clerics in your inventory".
I am not demeaning clerics RP only the mechanics that were in the pnp version have almost totally evaporate and added substantially to the RP during an adventure.
Edit: Heal is nice! Which is probably why you can convientiently purchase them in potion form. Once again not even UMD is required.

When you are not fighting then, yes. Almost any class with enough strength to carry around healkits can heal themselves. When you are toe to toe with a boss, then things change. When you use a healkit, you are considered flatfooted and lose your dex, dodge, and various other AC benefits. This makes a difference. When I am tanking a boss or in the middle of an insane DM event, Cleric heals and mass heals make a HUGE difference.
Combat healing is where clerics, druids, FS really shine in the healing arena.

The Hunters of vengeance lair very much cares that you can heal! Please apply to Medalofvalor for positioning......

I think the problem is we have so few clerics and priests who are available has conditioned people to take care of themselves. I used to look for priests in game over the temple, Sadly there are lots of favored souls, typically with zero healing capabilities. I have to rely IC on a rogue class player who has lots of healing skill points to heal our group, which is sad. I would love to have a priest heal and raise people in my group. Your welcome to party with me anytime!

Im one of those 700 hp with fast healing, 6 though not 3, and dr 10... Heal me all you want and I'll rolepay with you about my god if you talk to me about yours. I would rather roleplay raise someone than go do the 500 gold shuffle anyday. You do have a point, though I'd rather you didn't try and have raise dead scrolls removed over thine ranting. I use them to raise fallen adventurers I come across on my Knight all the time :<

It's only a 9 level dip and you can raise all you want
Also back in the day Fast healing 6 HP a round took 3 feats. Combined with 15 DR Venture could actually solo the yuanti queen but it took FOREVER.

I hate it when players just heal me all the time without any RP or consent. In a group or in active RP, then sure go for it! Great! But if I'm walking down the tradeway and you see
Barely Injured on the examine as I walk the other way, it doesn't give you the right to cast heal without speaking to my character first.
Server Rules wrote:Spell buffing, use of potions, wands, item powers, and scrolls during a confrontation consents you to PVP.
This is how my Orc treats the above scenario
edit: This has nothing to do with you ASD, I was just running with the "rant" theme!

And I'd suggest to ask OOC permission if they need raising or IC if
they need healing, or if you're going to raise them. In some instances, some PCs will want to
know what faith the healing/raise is coming from. Some will even refuse if the faith does not
agree with their own. Example> A paladin of Torm would not answer a call to be restored to life
by a priest of Bane.. They would likely refuse and remain in their God's embrace.

Other aspects of the OP has been covered pretty well. I'd like to highlight RP situation in a group when you do have a cleric along. Just as anyone else want to roleplay their skills and expertise, let the cleric do so as well. It gets rather frustrating when you've cleary indicated through rp on a non-battle/after battle situation for example that you are going to raise a toon X. You are typing your prayer and someone dashes over, reads a scroll/waves a wand and boof - raises toon X without any roleplay whatsoever.
The example is only one thing but it is a rather vital skill to some clerics and the players who would like to rp such situations rather than just throw a spell. Battle is different. Either way, by such action, one diminishes and undermines the cleric player.
While you deserve your own chance and moment, so does the cleric.
