UD Suggestion: Promote more RP-Hotspots

Unread post by ctothep »

First of all i can only suggest this for the UD as i barely play on the surface. Although i suppose it could be implemented there aswell.

I had this idea floating around in my head for quite a while now and after talking a little bit with Cubicle about it IG i thought i'd make a thread about it. I do think it would be a really neat addition to promote RP in more areas in the city of S'shamath.

Recent updates gave the UD access to fishing and the 1250 (?) xp per reset tied to it. A great addition as the xp is quite good especially in epic lvls. But even more so it brings people together to these places because there is xp in it (makes sense, no? :P ). More often than not you will find people you can rp with while you fish which is great. Although it does have a few problems, for example in the darkwood district the fishing spots are very far apart so you cannot really communicate with others while you fish unless one misses out on the fishing xp. It does somewhat work better in the mist lake area since the spots are more close to each other but it's still like your character has to scream all the time because the other one is like 20 metres away from you :P ... but i suppose that is a different topic.

Anyways, i think it would be very nice to expand a little bit on this fishing xp with more "activities" that give you xp from the very same 1250xp per cap pool you can get from it.

For example there could be a laboratory implemented in the school of mages where mage archetype characters can study and fill the xp pool this way. A placeable that you can interact with and that hands out xp in a similiar fashion than fishing does currently. This would draw similiar characters to this location and give opportunity to rp with each other. Talk about their studies, exchange spells, etc. etc. There could even be an NPC there who, in exchange for a fee, provides you with slaves you can test your spells... field studies, sort of. :P

There could be other such hotspots for different archetypes. For example a training area in the southern area near the commanders tent with training dummies etc. where fighters types can fill this xp-pool. A rp-hotspot for the fighter archetype sort of.

This would not make lvling more faster as all of these activities are tied to the very same xp-pool you can currently fill via fishing. So depending what makes the most sense for your character you can decide between studying, training dummies and so on. Chances are high that you will meet other people there doing the same and thus promote interaction between these type of characters.

I think this would be a really neat addition to the UD.

Thoughts?

I like the idea. I have a mage guard type character, who would frequently be confused that there are guards around, with nowhere to train them. :)

Even if a training dummy could give 200-300xp or something as per a chest would, with the same limits on how many times it could be used per reset, that would be very helpful. You could make the training dummy very resilient, say only takes 1 dmg per hit and needs 50 points of dmg before I get the xp. Is that even possible? I don't know, but I would do it, and rp in an area like that.
I really like the idea of having a place to gather and exchange items with others too. I hold onto scrolls and wands and will trade them for goodwill with mages that hire me.

Anything that brings more interest, and people to the UD would be welcome. I was contacted IG by another player that had no idea that the UD was a separate realm, and wanted to know how they could get to it.
Some people say if you can't do something right, don't do it at all...I say maybe you just need more practice...?
