Background: Jimmy grew up in the shadow of Baldur's Gate. Born into a simple farming family, his childhood was warm and memorable. He was fortunate to experience very little tragedy in his youth.

His father, Frank Farmer, tended the same land his family had worked on for generations. A skirmish with Amn lead the Duke of Baldur's Gate to conscript some of locals as soldiers. Frank, being of fighting age, was one of these conscripted soldiers. During his time as a soldier, Frank lost a hand, but gained a wife.

Frank was present when some drunken Amnian soldiers were causing trouble near an outpost. Frank and a few fellow soldiers were ordered to scare the drunken intruders off before the political situation got worse. Words were exchanged and a brawl ensued. Fortunately for international relations, no loss of life occurred on either side, but Frank caught a hatchet to his wrist. The wound became infected, and his hand had to be amputated.

Dismissed from the army after his injury, Frank struggled with pain coming from his missing hand. A traveling herbalist setup shop outside Baldur's Gate. Frank began to frequent the shop for various pain remedies to combat the unrelenting pain radiating from his phantom limb. The herbalist, Sara, decided to stick around longer than she typically did, in large part because of the profits she received from Frank.

Much to Sara's surprise, she received a proposal from the one-handed farmer. Although the two did not know each other well, Frank asked for the herbalist's hand in marriage. Frank would have a wife who knew the cure for his phantom pains, and in return he promised to be a husband that worked hard for his family and never beat his wife unjustly. Sara agreed to the marriage proposal.

The two had four children, Jimmy, and three younger daughters. As Jimmy grew up, his father began to rely heavily on the boy's strength.

Like most farmers, Jimmy's family was far too poor to be able to give their children any sort of formal education. Despite his lack of schooling, Jimmy was often a quick study when tasked with physical concepts, but struggled to grasp more lofty ideas. Jimmy became deeply devoted to Chauntea, and had great respect to all the gods who strive to make the world a better place.

After long days of working the land, Jimmy would often fall asleep to his mother's tales of her days traveling with the wandering dervishes. With so much of his time dedicated to the unremarkable farm, Jimmy began to long to see more of the world beyond the farms of Baldur's Gate.

One day after taking his family's corn and honeycakes to market, he overheard the local Merchant's League talking about a reward for retrieval of goods that bandits had stolen. After Jimmy was unable to sell most of his harvest, he decided the best way to avoid a tanning from his pa' was to get the money the family needed elsewhere. He took his father's scythe and headed to the bandit cave. With his broad shoulders and quick feat, he emerged from the bandit cave with the merchant's lost goods. Never mentioning his adventure to his family, Jimmy began to search for riskier and faster ways to make coin than farming.

Before anyone knew it, Jimmy had became an adventurer.

His complete lack of knowledge of the world and his good-natured naivety will likely place Jimmy in harm's way in the future, but the world is a great teacher to those who can bear its harsh lessons. His general trust and assumption that all men are good tends to cause him to associate with folks that wiser men would avoid.

Along the road Jimmy is happy to break bread with and go on adventures with anyone who is willing to put up with his overly enthusiastic appreciation for corn, wheat, potatoes, and honey.

Goals: After the destruction of the eastern farmlands in the siege of 1351, Jimmy hopes to bring prosperity back to the farmers.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Jimmy's family farm was in the Eastern farmlands near the shrine of Chauntea. The rebuilding of the farms is a prime interest to Jimmy and will likely do whatever it takes to restore his family and neighbors' livelihood.
