Pandemonium!!!

Soooo... is it safe to assume that the three identical, and quite hostile, drow matron npc's that were on the bridge near BG, and conversely the small pile of dead players accumulated by them, was unintentional and should not be treated IC'ly?
I must say, trying to stab a drow NPC in front of the Fist and having the latter tell me to halt and put my weapons away was a little bit of a stretch
