Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

I was fighting zombies in a crypt with my pimp lvl 1 priestess. One of them said "Braaaaaaaiiiinnnnssss" ... that got me thinking, do DnD zombies even eat brains? So I went in my monster manual, and nothing says they have an appetite. They really just stand there and do nothing but obey their creator.

I suppose their creator could order them to eat brains though.

Zombies do not typically require any sort of food in DnD, no (no dietary requirements or preferences listed in Libris Mortis).

But the DMs and developers determine what sort of diet individual undead have in their world.

Maybe it's just the zombies version of an insult? Saying your character don't have any brains - would fit several of mine at least!

Devs are being funny with those. Some jokes are unintentional, though, like *churr*ing and *growl*ing snakes or talking bandit dogs (they might have fixed that).

The "Brains" thing is, as far as I can tell, a clear reference to this:

Snarfy it call retributton i found it odd to but in a BG 2 we have some zombies lord and we have on this server call mummy lord come on, can the undead get titles, they can speak haha

The Poo zombies have a tongue to so it can speak haha

A lizardfolk called me a lizard, recently. That was a new one.

It's an Easter Egg of sorts for those old zombie movies.

I was thinking of Nwn 1 zombies when I wrote that line. They had an action for sucking your brains which added an intelligence debuff.

They don't have an intelligence score. It's not that they have 0 intelligence. They don't even have a score. They are entirely mindless. They shouldn't be talking at all.
