This is character's biography, prior to arriving in server events.

Noble drow house of Kil’Afin once existed in city of Ched Nasad. Ruled by strong and cunning Matron Talice, it was embodiment of drow traditions and lifestyle, yet house was not very famous and rich, but it had its own role in political intrigues of Ched Nasad. House of Kil’Afin was a home for Mallim, as for many other of his relatives. His parents were Elerra and Guldor Kil’Afin, both native of many descendants of Kil’Afin house, but Mallim was their only child: his parents both were murdered in usual fraud inside of noble house, so child was left alone. It was nothing unusual, since parents is just a formality, so Mallim was raised and trained by older members of his house, not suffering from loss of closest relatives. So, Mallim considers himself as a member of drow society and as participant of all political intrigues of his race since his birth.

As a drow male, Mallim was traditionally trained as a martial combatant, to become one of house warriors in future. While he was not gifted much for using any of Arcane arts, he had outstanding physical form, cunning and cruelty, which allowed him to learn many aspects of combat quite easily, and he naturally fitted in drow society. His skills with various weapons quickly became object of discussions. Given any melee or ranged weapon, Mallim managed outfight many, even more older of his comrades. But his true skill lied in marksmanship: young drow could shoot his targets almost with his eyes closed since the frist days of training. He used his gifts to harm others since childhood, to earn respect of elders or his trainers. Often he was the one, who substituted his fellows even for a smallest benefit, which sometimes led him to severe consequences for others. Truly devout to Llolth and all of Dark Seldarine, he never questioned demands from his elders, at least openly, tried to please his superiors, and always to be in their favor, which was not hard, considering his character, since for all of his life, Mallim almost was embodiment of stereotypes about the drow.

Eager to prove himself, Mallim tried to participate in house’s political life since he was a teen. Not much gifted in sabotage and good-covered actions, he was used as a last resort, when it was desperate need to murder someone, who was out of favor, and could be killed without raising any serious investigations. Cold-hearted, cruel and greedy, he usually did his job with a great pleasure of ending someone’s life. And Mallim’ skills in marksmanship helped him greatly: by bow alone, he was able to eliminate his targets quick and quietly, and always had enough time to cover himself and run away without actual need of hiding: anyway, unproved crime is not a crime, by the laws of drow, and Mallim was clean by all formalities, despite a few rumors around him. He always remembers this time with some perverted sort of “warmth” in his mind, since there Mallim felt himself most alive and dedicated to some higher cause, as every drow male should. As he grew, Mallim caught eyes of a many, be it allies or foes. Some elders respected him, and younglings even tried to seek his favor, since young man became famous quickly. That lasted, until house of Kil’Afin decided to rival with house of Zauvirr, which was more famous, more rich and more favored. House of Kil’Afin had usual things to achieve in mind: be it more fame, wealth or being feared among other houses.

Surprisingly, but nothing loud happened during this rivalry, until Mallim was ordered to kill Faeryl Zauvirr, daughter of house Matron Ssipriina. It was impossible to make such plot totally covered, but Mallim could not deny demands of his own house in face of Talice. He should poison Matron’s daughter, by entering to one of many house parties. According to plan, this should make Ssipriina to rush all her forces to find killer of her daughter, and at that time, she would be assassinated. And other scattered military forces of Zauvirr are supposed to be either threatened to serve house Kil’Afin or to be killed as well. Mallim was ideal candidate for such task: he was little famous. Famous enough so Ssipriina knew, whom she shall find, but not too well-known to be found too easily. Unable just to attack Faeryl openly, he tried to use a poison: another classic method of his kin. Mallim decided, that he should do everything quickly: just to enter party, leave poison and get away as quietly as possible. He almost succeeded: he put enough poison not only to kill Faeryl, but almost everyone in there. But it was expected by members of the Zauvirr family: after first victim fell, alarm sounded. There was no actual proof against Mallim, but many remembered him entering, and since he was not totally unknown in Ched Nasad, finding him was not too hard. After few nights, house of Kil’Afin was attacked by assassins almost uncovered. Since Kil’Afin house was not much in favor, house of Zauvirr could afford itself to kill most of its important members via assassins, which will lead to future house destruction. Mallim was not fully ready to such turn of events: when assassins came for him, Talice was already murdered, as he knew very soon. He barely managed to end life of his single enemy, and decided to leave city immediately, until more of them came to find him. Fall of Kil’Afin was obvious: with no Matron, most members of house likely to pledge their allegiance to Zauvirr, and it certainly would lead to Mallim’ execution. And for his own life he was ready to give everything, be it his current possessions or lives of his family. He decided to start everything from the beginning, but this time with more powerful allies: his allegiance should not be pledged to weak, his skills should be dedicated only to those, who is truly in favor of Spider Queen, and now former house of Kil’Afin obviously was not. With no actual accusations, leaving Ched Nasad have not created too much trouble. Now, Mallim were supposed to venture Underdark alone, without particular knowledge even about surrounding area of Ched Nasad.

Lucky for him, Mallim very quickly stumbled upon group of duergar, who were chasing ran-away svirfneblins. Mallim agreed to help gray dwarves in exchange for their knowledge of surroundings. This journey took much more time, that was excepted. For times of travelling, Mallim even forged some sort of “friendship” with a duergar, named Horgar. They both shared the same taste for violence and torturing lesser creatures, like vermins, and even humanoids. A bunch of straight-forward gray dwarves was fond his skills, which were finest addition to their tactics in fighting various threats of Underdark, which they encountered much. As it happened, duergars were not members of some particular clan, they were just a little band of slavers, so nothing held them from following prey for months, with exception if svirfneblins will manage to reach some deep gnome settlement, so they always were in haste. Mallim could not consider simple slave-chasing as purpose of his future life anyway, and gray dwarves were not interested to guide him through all of Underdark in search of better life. At the end of their travel, svirfneblins finally reached one of secret outposts of their race, and fenced themselves off in there. Mallim decided to betray his “new” duergar allies for a great benefit: when angered gray dwarves planned an attack, Mallim came to deep gnomes with no weapons, and demanded himself a guide in exchange for information about future attack. After long negotiations, he managed to convince gnomes to help him, but at last moment Mallim reconsidered, and actually gave them wrong information. After that, he wandered off with a gnome, who even refused to tell his name, and duergars attacked confused settlement of svirfneblins. Mallim never heard about dwarves, since he wandered off, but, perhaps, they are grateful to him now.

Guide agreed to show Mallim the only place, where he could almost truly to escape house of Zauvirr, it was the city of Sshamath. The one and only of drow cities, where true power lied not beneath the clergy. Mallim had nothing against drow religion and its traditions, he even truly believed in them, but he could not find any reachable place so truly dedicated to them as well, where he will not be killed in few months. In constant fear for his life, Mallim decided to reside in Sshamath. Once they’ve came closer to its borders, svirfneblin turned back quickly, saying he will not come close to the city. At the end, Mallim shoot gnome in his back, deciding that no one should know, where he is now, and returned svirfneblin could easily spread the word about his new place of life. Considering his skills, gnome was an easy target, and he got his reward: to be forgotten for helping a drow. But it was nothing more, than an irony, which produced a small grin on Vala’s face, while he threw svirfneblin’s corpse in closest river. Full of determination and ready to do everything for his own sake, Mallim ventured to city of Sshamath. Young drow reached it easily, since svirfneblin guided him through most of major threats well-covered. Here his journey truly begins. A second chance to become a major figure in political game is rarely bestowed upon the drow, since they usually die after their failure, and Mallim is not the one, who will lose such chance for wealth, glory and favor among powerful houses.
