Adding in palemaster

Unread post by Kiran »

Hi guys.

At 6 sorc, 7 Arcane atm, going for my level 7 spells, but thinking to chose palemaster as it is meant to be part of the chars rp + 2ac is nothing to be frowned at for free.

Will choosing 1 level in palemaster affect when I get level 8 and 9 spells? Because if not then I can choose 1 now, then 1 more at level 19 then 20 to keep within the class rules for the server... Thoughts?

Sure, nothing wrong with that route.

Personally though, I would go 7 palemaster levels from where you're at. Yes, you get a slower spell progression for some time, but the summons and bonuses will more than make up for it.

Trust me, when you're finally level 24 and already have all the spells, you'll be happier to have all the palemaster bonuses than the extra sorcerer or arcane scholar levels. With your route, you get full spellcasting at level 21-22, but it's a shame to delay the palemaster bonuses to the very latest levels. Levelling is easier with them.

Getting immune to crit at palemaster 10 also helps you withstand against those dirty rogue assassins (aka death attackers) or weapon masters. Even with epic precision, it will reduce their damage by 50% from sneak attackers giving you an edge over them. Plus you are immune to crit so weapon masters can't take you down easily. I've seen their crit threat range roll from 13-20 and do 100+ damage with each hit which can be quite dangerous.

If you haven't already, use nwn2db.com to plan your character.

Take it from me, the guy who has RCRd at least 50+ times on a single character, it helps. The RCR is because I have different whims... Now I have like 10 casters, and have RCRd them at least 5+ each hehe... This is of course with the 50% of current XP.

Like Karond said, it will be a slower progression.. moreso if you take shadowdancer in that mix. REALLY slow progression. But the summons are pretty boss. The mummy would be if it didn't walk like it was a zombie in walking dead. But when you get to the vamps, it's worthwhile.

The drawback... You would be labeled a necromancer. So be warned. And good luck!
