any thoughts on how to get skywings CE to work?

I use it on my PC without fail, but that thing is a dinosaur w/ Windows Vista...
My Laptop is running Windows 10, which causes MANY issues, such as internet dropping randomly and requiring me to troubleshoot the issue so my computer can reset the wifi adapter. The most annoying though has been that I can't seem to consistently log in with the CE. I use the Client Extension for logs and it also makes the overall gaming experience better so it is really frustrating when playing on my laptop to not be able to use it.
Any advice? Essentially I can open the game (run as admin) and sign in to the server, but when I select a PC it tends to crash while loading the game world or, in one case it was able to load the game world, but CTD shortly after. any ideas?
Thanks!

You could try emulating Windows Vista on your Windows 10?
Do you have the CE installed in the proper folders?
I think in your earlier post about getting NWN2 to work, I mentioned to try and setup your WiFi on your laptop to NOT search for wireless networks (because maybe what is happening is your laptop briefly jumps to a stronger signal—or maybe even just tries to ping it—and that will break your connection to the BGTSCC Server).

It's not necessarily Windows 10; I have no problems with CE under W10. Have you tried uninstalling, making sure that you remove all traces, and then doing a clean install?

I've had a few probs with NWN2 CE & Win10. Make sure you set the application options to Compatibility mode (Win 7 or Win 8). I have mine set to Win8 compatibility and it runs perfectly fine now.
Also, if you have wifi problems you might consider a good, old fashioned ethernet cable directly to your router?

I had this issue not long ago what version of NWN2 are you running? Disk? Steam? God download?
My friend and I learned that the CE for some reason bugs out on Steam and GoG versions. Has to do with how the files are extracted and where you place them.
1. Make sure the location of CE is correct.
2. There is a file in the CE for "forced" install. It's a bat file I believe that codes the correct location.
3. This is not 100% but it did work once. We had to rename the gog games file name to Atari and it suddenly started working. It was wierd.
Try those number 2 might be the easiest and fastest way to get it done.
Edit: if your CE is working but having issues running,
Try opening properties of NWN2 itself and check the run as administrator box, you might want to try setting "run compatability mode windows ____" or simply try running it as I think 32 bit work in one case.
((Installed this game about 20 times in the last 2 years))

I will try the compatibility change, thank you...
CE is definitely installed properly. I have got in game and played with the client extension for hours at times...Other times, I CTD while logging in without it works fine. That is why it's so hard to figure out, it sometimes works, but usually doesn't

I just tested it on my two computers.
Client extension works well for me on WINDOWS 10, for both GOG version and CD version.
I do not have the steam version. So it might not be related to the windows version.

going to try changing wifi settings, thanks SB!
Edit: just tested and was able to get in game with 5 different PC's so I think running in compatibility mode for Win 8 seems to have worked. Hopefully changing the wifi settings will also fix the random necessity to reset the adapter, time will tell.
thanks everyone!

CE still isn't working right. I can get in game, but often CTD either after character selection, when leaving the Nexus or during other area transitions. I ran the compatibility troubleshooter and it appears Windows 8 is the preferred compatibility mode so I will stick with that, but not sure what else to try in order to fix the consistent crashes I am getting.
My version is the disk version, not GoG or Steam...

Are you playing full window mode, or not? Have you tried turning off and down all the graphics options, then giving it a go?
I used to crash heavily on transitions, but it turned out to be a version of my emulator, that just couldn't deal. When the emulator engine had an update, the problems abated.

I will give it a shot, but thing is none of this happens if I login without the Client Extension. however, not having combat / chat logs sux! I am trying to figure out what is different between the two, but really the settings are the same, that is why I was thinking it was something to do with Skywings and Windows... I've tried compatibility with XP expansion pack 3, Vista, 7 and 8 thought and all still suffer from CTD.
I play full screen mode, only use window mode if I am singing songs with Chord so I can copy/paste from my vast selection of google searched Faerunian hits!

Mine is the disk version. I launch it using this shortcut: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2\NWLauncher.exe" where all my CE files are located.
I note that the readme says the following:
Avoid running Neverwinter Nights 2 in a compatibility mode (i.e. Windows XP
compatibility mode) if you plan on using the Client Extension. It is not
necessary to run the game in compatibility mode, and doing so may prevent the
Client Extension from loading in some circumstances.
I presume that only refers to XP, but I've never needed compatibility mode.

ok so yesterday I used the CE to play all day and was super excited... This morning when attempting to login I get to select my character and as the Nexus is loading CTD.
Here is the NWN2_errorlog (not sure why I didn't think of that before)... Going to try several more times and see if I get a different error or the same. Anyone know what this means? (let me know if additional detal is needed such as the Registers or Stack dump...

You could try getting a copy of the grsnny2.dll from a trusted source. Possibly yours is corrupted?

Well this is kinda funny... googled it to look specifically in to the error and got to this:

Blast from the past, hey Steve?
did you ever figure out what was causing this issue for you? (four years ago, I know... I can't remember what I ate for breakfast on Tuesday, but figured it's worth a shot!)
Pretty much all the links for dll fixes try to sell me on downloading the PC Repair kit, which doesn't even say it is compatible with Windows 10... Plus in my experience these 'free' downloads do nothing, but run a scan, tell you you have 8,567,294 viruses or other issues on your computer then advise they can all be fixed for the low low price of $29.99. Meanwhile they install some bloatware that slows down your computer and try to sell you their other program for $69.99 to remove all that crap.
