Follower of Tyr build advice

So I've been thinking about an alt for quite some time now, and I finally decided. I would like to play a follower of Tyr, who focuses mainly on the "Even Handed" aspect. For that reason he would be lawful netural.

That means that we can cross out the paladin class. I would like a two-handed build, but I don't really know how to do it.

Any advice?

If you are even handed doesn't that suggest dual wielding?

You could always go Favored Soul 27/Cleric 3, epic divine might, power attack, longsword 2 handed, throw on a shield when needed. You could even RP it as a lawful neutral paladin.

Twohanded builds are usually not very good on the defensive. The way to counter their lack of defense is either to make them do so much damage that they won't need it (which is what WM/FBs essentially end up being) or adding magic to it (gish, cleric or favoured soul).

I could help you if you had some more preferences. Do you want this to be a magical character? Or a more plain warrior?

It should be noted that you can twohand with a longsword. Quite successfully as well. You'll have 2 average damage lower than a greatsword (4,5 average on longsword, 6,5 on greatsword), but that's it. It does mean you can put on a shield when you need some extra defense, however.

An alternative is to stick to the greatsword and get monkey grip, in order to be able to put on a shield occasionally.

But let me know a bit more how you envision the character and I should be able to whip up something workable (if not necessarily a power build).

Fighter 12/ Monk 6 base. Monk grants Tumble and Evasion access, thus enabling you for Expose Weakness. You also get free Improved Knockdown feat and some extra saves. For the "oomph" you should consider either Weapon Master, Dervish or Anointed Knight. WM and Dervish are more offensive PrCs, where AK will make for a well rounded build which will probably fit the best RP wise.

AK is good aligned, though, so that can't work.

Good on you, forgot about that.

If you're willing be able to put on a shield (whether through monkey grip or onehander), you could consider getting in man-at-arms.

Divine champion also seems appropriate for the RP.

Well, here is very short summary of the RP concept:

He is a warrior priest but not a paladin, he wanders the land and tries to bring justice to all, viewing all "cases", like one of it's kind, unaffected by the suspect's history. Cares only about what is just, completly ignoring all other factors (like how it would effect politcs and such). However he does not think that he is above the law, but will openly express what he thinks is just. People would not listen to him becuse he is charismatic, but becuse he truly netural. His whole life revolves around justice.

Build wise:

I think a greatsword would be ok (or if it is really bad compared to a monkey grip build then that would be reasonable too), as I would rather avoid FS. I looked at Divine champion and, you are right it does fit the concept nicely.

How about just plain old cleric 30? Either strength based or EDM. Maybe dip 4 levels of fighter for some nice feats.

EDIT:

You can mess around with the feats a bit, of course. Epic Gate is definitely up for change. Epic Mass Heal would probably be just as good. Or Armour Skin, since you want to stick to using twohander. Improved Critical and Blind Fight can also be changed (don't let people convince you that there are oh so many displacers on the server. Blind Fight is mostly a PvP concern). You could easily get in monkey grip if you want, for instance.

I also put wisdom at 19, because I personally prefer to not need the +3 wisdom item. But you can work fine with 16 wisdom and a +3 wisdom item as well.
