Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

So I've got my summoner and really like that. I love my minions. That being said, I'd like to have a melee build I can go to when I want to smash some heads!

What I'd like is a Half Orc barbarian who is an unarmed fighter. Just goes in, smashes faces and loves every bit of it. I don't want an evil character exactly, just someone who likes to fight. High number of attacks or high AB would be great, should probably be able to take a hit as well.

Also should mention I've never played an unarmed build before. So advice and such would be awesome.

Bonus points for a viable, low INT build. Cause stupid Half Orcs are funny.

I was just thinking of going barb/FB but I don't know if cleave and great cleave is something that can apply to an unarmed fighter. Also don't know anything about unarmed combat. Are there some kind of gloves I can use that will boost damage and attack base?

If you go monk there is a feat for them which acts like cleave... think its called circle-kick.

Yeah, but monk can't cross class with barbarian because of alignment restrictions.

Plus, don't want to be lawful.

Not sure then... some people say cleave and G-cleave are must haves, others say they are of no importance.

Yeah, but both are requirements for frenzied berserker.

I'm just unsure if they apply to unarmed attacks.

I don't see why they wouldn't ... might not be as effective as it is for weapons but it should still work.

That's what I was hoping, just wasn't sure if you needed to have a weapon equip or not.

I don't use those feats normally so I cant say... only feat I encountered which only works for a specific setup is the power-attack group. They will only work with 2-handed weapons... which imho is stupid, one does not need a 2-handed weapon to execute brutal power attacks in RL.

Some clarification for everyone...

Power Attack works with one handed weapons, no weapons and even dual wielding...it is simply not as effective as it is when using a weapon with two hands. This is because if using a weapon with both hands you double the PA bonus. So for PA it's -3 Atk +6 Dmg (vs. -3 / +3 otherwise). IPA is -6 +12, etc...

Cleave/Great Cleave still work with unarmed strikes, they just aren't that great on this server as mobs have very high HP and this is especially noticeable when you are trying to take them out with fists without any monk damage.

Here is a starting point for you to consider that I think fits the RP and mechanics you're going for. Note that the Barbarian just is not a very strong class and due to the heavy feat requirements to get both FoF and FB in this is missing extra rages, which would help... Personally I think it would be better WITHOUT FB and use the feats for extra rage, blindfight((Edit: forgot FoF grants blindfight, but would still forego FB to save feats and gain an epic feat)), etc. Another (better option IMO) is as Passi mentions, but I wouldn't go Ranger, instead I would go Barbarian 23/FoF3/F4 w/ weapon specialisation in Unarmed. This way you still get all of your epic/thundering rage, plus a couple free points of damage and no issues with feats. However, if you are with a group or more just looking for the RP of a brutish half-orc brawler this might work for you. In any case, you didn't really ask for a full build so I didn't mess with skills (other than survival 4 which is required) and just made this as a concept that hopefully helps you come up with your own ideas for a build. Are you forced to go barbarian? Isn't Frienzed berserker enough?


Cause you could do something like... Ranger / Fighter / FB / Fist of the forest.



If your goal is to be a damn tough guy when you hit players with fists in tavern brawl, you take like... Favored power attack and pick favored ennemy for the player races.

If not, you still take it, but with different favored ennemies which you will focus on when leveling.

Thought of making one myself way back when.

Biggest issue you will have is gear as a new player. Melee characters struggle and this being an unarmed/unarmored character will make things difficult. You're rages will help, especially with fof since the CON buff is also an AC buff. In the end I still think ac will be really low as a pc wearing no armor and low DEX.

I've tried so many times on here to make an unarmed character without monk it's just such an uphill battle. At best you end up below average. Maybe someone else can do better.

Might be something to barbarian 17/Bear Warrior 10/FoF 3, if you don't mind raging as a dire bear... much less equipment reliant and you keep any bonuses from unarmed feats (though not sure if you'd keep the bonus fist of the forest damage, AC, etc.

Simple fact is non monk is going to be below average in combat. Not wearing armor further exacerbates this problem. The only reason to build this is for the rp aspect.
