Game being choppy and crashing?

Unread post by FlippinFerrets »

Crashing is random, but happens the most when examining people. Logging in to the game and selecting a character.

Game begins to get choppy whenever I start to run/walk anywhere. My fps drops considerably.

Running on a fairly beefy computer, or at least beefy enough to handle this game without issues.

Did you try the Skywing Client extension?

Ok, so I installed it and used the exe in it.

Booted up and updated the extension.

Saw that it should be run in window mode for best results. Did that and changed some graphic settings.

Closed game because it needed to restart.

opened the (updated) exe via a shortcut I made.

Three windows open and now nothing happens.

try using hdlinstall.reg. Or running it without the extention, closing it, and running it with. I've had that before, those usually help.

Also, make sure no other versions are running via task manager before you start it.

So just to clarify, run the game by using the normal icon that the installer would provide, then close the game. Next, use the exe the extension provided in conjunction with the regular game Icon...?

I'm confused a bit. Sorry, not a tech person.

Ok... So, the extension exe will open three windows and do nothing else.

The standard game exe shortcut now crashes the game instantly.

UPDATE: The exe no longer opens the map window.

UPDATE 2: Fixed the crash issue, had something in tasks that was killing it.

UPDATE 3: Just launched using the regular launcher and game no longer stutters. Probably was doing something wrong, lol.

From the extension, or it won't be used... I think!

Ok, I sent you a PM.

I'm having an issue with the extension not launching the game.

I've tried launching the standard game without the extension, then closing it down.
I've also tried launching the extension and waiting to see if it does anything, it doesn't.
I've run the hdinstall.reg file and that hasn't fixed the issue, but I'll do it again.

Ran the NWStandaloneClient.exe as admin, didn't fix problem :/

I'll play with the standard launcher for now until someone has an idea on what I should do I guess.

I think I figured it out!
You need to open the game with the standard launched, then right click ClientExtension.hdl and then click Apply. That seems to have enabled the extension. Likely need to do this every time.
