Rufus came from Daleland in search of what killed his sister. She was murdered by something in her room during the undead attacks. The building she was in had been closed and locked none of the undead had been able to make it inside. The assailant took her holy token from the Church of Tymora, an item that would now be cursed making it impossible for the thief to be rid of the token. It is unknown if anything else was taken unfortunately no one know for sure. Rufus is now on the quest to find who or what the assailant was.

"Loghain had encountered a man named Rufus out along the tradeway north of beregost, near the goblin mines along with an elf named Elvalia. Loghain greeted both of them respectfully and as they had a philosophical debate about good and evil, Rufus began speaking at length throughout the night about his sister, whom he believed was murdered by an unknown assailant during the Siege of the undead on Baldur's gate several months ago. Loghain waved Rufus off for a moment telling him that many people had lost loved ones during the siege and that it is possible that his sister was killed by an undead so why is it that his sister's death could be considered any different? Rufus then told Loghain about how his sister was in the part of the city that remained untouched by the undead assault. Loghain asked more about Rufus's sister and he said was that his sister was a worshiper of Tymora and that he had received what he believed is her remains but Rufus would not give any more information to Loghain and Elvalia beyond that, claiming that it best they did not know. Loghain regarded Rufus with a suspicious glance but believed it is perhaps at least worth checking up on just to be sure. If a woman was unlawfully murdered with the law's eyes blind then Tyr's champion shall shine light and reveal the truth. Or punish Rufus for any treachery he may be hiding from the face of the law.

Loghain proceeded back to the city of Baldur's gate where he engaged in conversation with several Tymoran priests who knew Rufus's sister. They told Loghain of how she had been walking on temple grounds and that she came in to pray a lot, asking for Tymora's blessings just before she died. They told Loghain of a coin that Rufus's sister had from the dalelands called the lucky tolken and that if taken from a priest that it would bring bad luck to the thief and those around him. However, since Rufus's sister was a faithful servant of Tymora it brought her good luck which is why the priests seemed confused at her death and feared that she did not get lucky in Tymora's favor even with the coin. However, should a person of no faith to Tymora bear the coin then it shall bring a curse of bad fortune upon he who carries it and those around him.

There are only several ways to remove it, one of which is to use the book of faithful coin which bears pages that could effectively remove the coins effects but they knew no more than that. That was all the priests had to say on the matter and Loghain did not believe the information useful but nevertheless thanked the priests for their time, gave them a generous donation and sought to find any trustworthy and skilled individuals who could help find clues to this investigation. In the meantime, he proceed to his room in the blade and stars inn where he would write a letter to Arkaine HalfOrken and give a report on his happenings so far."
