Fail upon fail

I just wanted to share, because I am both shocked and incredibly annoyed.

I just got critted to death by goblins. They needed natural 20's to even HIT ME. And they critted me 6 times in a row.

Over 80 HP's gone in two rounds. And they needed 20's to hit me.

Bloody hell.

800 XP lost, and given the sever issues we've been having that represents 4 days of play.

*Headdesk*

SO! Had any humourous fails in game recently?

At best, the NWN2 engine can't be trusted; at worst, it cheats.

It has happened to us all.

Thankfully, the Gods don't really want your PC to die...this they let it off with a minor penalty.

Now cowboy...get back on that stud and do some grindin'. Hee haw!!

We are all frustrated with the DDOS attacks, Calantyr; I myself have also been killed several times due to the lag spikes, but as Maecius said in another thread - we can always go to another server until the admin team sort this out; or avoid combat altogether until the server becomes more stable.

You might be able to get the exp back if you put in a request to the DM team...but I doubt it, though it is worth a shot. In the meantime though it is worth focusing on social RP instead of combat if you must play - which is, after all what the server is about; RP. And you still get XP from it too, it is also must safer.

The trick is to kill the ennemy before it even realises you're there and it's dead.

8-)

the other day I picked up a cursed spoon with -2 WIS and 50% vulnerability to fire... So when you eat the hot soup it burns your mouth EXTRA BAD and you're so dense that you will continue going back for more...not realizing the soup is the reason for the third degree burns throughout your mouth!   Best Cursed item I ever picked up...humour wise... the worst is probably a tie between the 50 pound book I picked up and had to cart around (slowly) until I could find someone to remove the curse and the "Epic Offhand Axe" that turned out to actually be cursed :( and that was my first ever "epic" find... and Cranston uses Hand Axes!!! I was so bummed about that one!

Fun times, ah the memories!

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not bellyaching (well, not much). I'm actually rather amused by what happened, it was all so improbable that I actually burst out laughing and cried a little.

I feel your pain honestly. One thing I've discovered through my time playing thus far is that these kinds of crits happen quite often with monsters that grant you 30+xp or at least it does from my play experience so far. I very rarely get critted by monsters that grant like 20 xp atleast.

The worst i have found is the dual wielding Xvart warriors, those guys seem to roll 20s every other swing. I miss my char Ellene, was always fun to get Ursa's group to start beating eachother up.

Lord help you if a 19 hits. That's a 90% chance to be hit by NWN2 standards.

They have some odd feat called frenzied critical or something like that. They are basically made to crit and destroy.

Yes. He can do a huge amount of damage at a surprisingly fast rate. He almost killed my level 23 shaman because I expected a mob that much lower than me to be a walk in the park and hadn't put on Tortoise Shell (and wasn't using my summons, since quest doesn't update if summons get the killing blow). By the time I got a Premonition and Rejuv Cocoon up, I'd gotten down to just 1 hp. <.<

I would have felt terrible to die in such a way. D:
