This is a name we would use in game. It needs to fit the setting.
The Cold-Iron Crew.
Or maybe it should be "The Rat Pack"...

I like The Saturday Knights, it's really clever. Unfortunately it makes little sense in character.

My creativity is escaping me at the moment but here are a few guild name generators that may work for our purposes:
http://fantasynamegenerators.com/guild_ ... wSF2qQrKUk
http://online-generator.com/name-genera ... erator.php
Something not too pretentious and even self deprecating would work for me. The Rat Pack is along those lines but I also don't think it's in the spirit of this server.

If we're okay with some self deprecation how about:
Dragon Snacks

nice ideas I like them. Our fearless bard may have something for us name wise IG (but it probably has to be earned). Uhm. "The Real #2 Party"?

My character Joules' story thus far cuz this is a total IC thread too:
"
The tall, skinny, curly-haired young wizard from the Gate, first name of Joules, finally had what he would call a real adventure. After begging his father to let him travel on a business expedition to survey land in the north for potential crop fields, our novice wizard found himself separated from his father's hired footmen and guide after an encounter with bandits on the Boarsky Bridge forced Joules feet first into the running river below. With every effort spent keeping himself and his book above water Joules wasn't sure, looking back, who fell into the river with him shortly after. In his haste and fear Joules ran across various paths making his confused and dripping way purposely to Soubar.
In Soubar he collected himself next to an open fire with strange and rude locals and afterwards spent a few evenings at the inn deciding what he should do next. Realizing he wouldn't have to go back to Baldur's Gate, and his monotonous life as a scribe there, elated Joules' mood more than he'd ever admit. But as his coin dwindled he quickly grasped his predicament.
Fortune and fate found him at the Winding Way tavern in the form of a one-eyed man, two wild-elves, a priest and a dashing lady adventurer. The one-eyed man made a proposition he couldn't refuse: map the ruins below the small hamlet. Already equipped with ink spot, paper, quill and training, our lad Joules found a natural role in the proceedings.
***insert group #2's #1 adventure here***
Tired and grimy from a day's adventure the group splits up to rest and await their rendezvous with the one-eyed man. Joules recollects on some of the action, his mind invariably going back to his use of his crossbow to kill the madmen who lived below. This was his first time killing his fellow man. Confused about what his true feelings should be a sense of exhilaration
overtook our wizard and he knew he could do exactly as he had done, again if he should ever have to.

I've had an offer to join these guys:

What do you think?
P.S. Much as I personally like joke names, I don't think Gonn would. He sees himself as a budding hero (although his idea of a hero might not be identical to yours).
P.P.S. Saturday, Sunday, or both this week?

Saturday for starters. I would prefer a more serious name too. Something like the "Breakfast Club" is cool but we have to earn it potentially.
The adventuring company for Gon or us all? It's something to think about if there's an end game maybe? Besides getting eaten by a dragon that is ^^.

as far as the "in game" RP aspect of my characters opinion of the group name. Apidae would care very little and would think this is something that humans or orcs would do. She would go along with, but would consider it simple or childish at this point. She is new to this diverse world. It would take her some time to "get" anything like this. Elves where she came from dont do this kind of thing.

I'm good for both days this weekend.
How lighthearted is this? Do we want to be ultra serious, or is it okay to be zany?
Is there any reason it can't be changed later?
To me, The Saturday Knights is perfect. It doesn't make as much strictly in character sense as something like Sword Coast Cartography and Extermination, but it's not ridiculous. It sets a lighthearted mood that I think is important for a game. It also fits well for a group that is only active on weekends when the game world is active all week. Maybe some of them still have a regular job and they get together for some weekend adventure. It sounds like something analogous to a real world outdoor adventure club.
Dragon Snacks goes too far. That was the name of my alt group in EverQuest and I still chuckle at it.

I'm no longer going to advocate for permadeath. I played that way in PnP as a teenager, but it seems people here (the server, I don't know about this group in particular) treat death like a trip back to the inn. Of course if everyone else wants to face the consequences if zombies eat our brains I'm good with it.

that is exactly why i elected for perma-death. it is different from what everyone (including myself) do. It made the encounter at the inn with the much stronger group much more serious. even if we havent invested very much into our characters at that point. I am still all-in on perma-death. and btw. resurrections at the temples are expensive. with that said if i am in the minority than i will concede to the desires of the group as a whole.

For all of us. It might be a bit premature.

Are we playing this as part-time adventurers? I know
we are only playing at weekends, but I always assume that our characters are adventurers 24/7.
