Background
Grum is an enormous half-orc of epic proportions. He never knew his orcish father, but if one were to speculate, his father would be more ogre than orc. Raised as a tragic footnote of a caravan raid, Grum was raised by a single mother who struggled to make ends meet. From a young age, Grum was an outcast. He was shunned because of race, feared for his size, and infamous for his rage.
Grum had a troubled childhood, and plagues him to this day. Hidden (though not very well) underneath a facade of a dull, good-natured brute is the pain of beign an outcast. Grum has traveled through much of the towns and villages surrounding Baldur's Gate, but he was turned aside by people from nearly all walks of life -- except for adventurers.
Perhaps it was the weary acceptance of a solid battle companion, or maybe the loneliness that comes with constant travel, but Grum found himself welcome time-and-time again by the ranks of the adventurers. Perhaps it takes a special kind of folk to become an adventurer, but it's the one place where his fear-inspiring heritage and rage were embraced with welcoming arms. To Grum, it is now home.
Goals
Grum is looking for acceptance - as an outsider(in every sense of the word) for so long, he wishes to join a group or organization that he can help in some sort of way.
Possible Plot-Hooks, Ideas, and Misc Facts
While growing up, Grum had a serious issue with anger management - which had manifested in the most unfortunate ways. While his memory is fragmented during most of his past rage-filled rampages, he knows for a fact that some of those slain should not have been casualties. It would stand to reason that there is somebody (possibly many somebodies) who are still after Grum for one of his accidental killings.
Grum had a very brief stint as a hunter, during which he attempted to hunt by hurling boulders at deer. He only ever had one kill, of which he is incredibly proud about. Fun fact: the antlers he wears are not from the deer he killed, but he doesn't know that.
