Eldritch Knight spells suggestions.

Hello there, I'm looking for spell selection suggestions for eldritch knight sorcerer (sorc/asoc/fighter/ek).

It is an infrequently used alt character, so only bother if you have free time or find the topic interesting.

The char has 20 cha (22 with +2 item), 1 autostill feat is available, and the character will not get more cha or autostills. Fullplate/greatsword.
No epic spells.

Current spell selection:
Hidden: show
0: Detect Magic, Detect Poison, Light, Mark Rune, Ray of Frost, Resistance

1: Enlarge Person, Magic Missile, Protection from Alignment, Reduce Person, Shield

2 Blindsight, Bull's Strength, Ice Darts, Invisibility, Mirror Image

3 Greater Magic Weapon, Improved Mage Armor, Spiderskin, Tongues

4 Greater Resistance, Ice Storm, Lesser Spell Breach, Stoneskin

5 Firebrand, Lesser Mind Blank, Lesser Spell Mantle, Teleprot

6. Flesh to Stone, Isaac's Greater Missile Storm, Planar Binding

7. Energy Immunity, Ethereal Jaunt, Shadow Shield

8. Greater Planar Binding, Mind Blank, Premonition.

9. Mordekainen's Disjunction, Shadow Simalcrum, Summon Creature 9
I would need to keep Tongues, Planar Binding and Greater Planar Binding for RP purposes.
One can be removed if creatures overlap due to new system.
I would prefer to keep Flesh to Stone and Enlarge/Reduce spells. (they were used in the past)

For the character it would make more sense to use water-based/ice-based magic (which is why I don't have fireball).

----

Overall the result is fairly decent, btu I've noticed that I'm not using anything from level 9 (well, I can't cast anything in armor from that level), don't seem to be using mantles/breaches and level 8 mind blank.

It is also highly possible that multiple spells overlap (for example, shield and shadow shield overlap, but I think it will make sense to keep shield as emergency measure)

Shades would be a good one for defensive combination of premonition and shield. Kind of hard to imagine an eldritch knight with no Greater Heroism at level 6 as well (or at least heroism at level 2 if you want the longer term buff while avoiding extend). Finally, I really like Deez's repulsive shadow barrier at level 4 for long term (though lesser) displacement.

Yeah, No greater heroism (and no haste) hurts and I didn't notice it right away. Plus due to Asoc levels AB is low-ish.

Any suggestion on spells that could be dropped?

Bit redundant to have both Shadow Shield and Spiderskin, I think. Both give +5 Natural armour. I'd pick Spiderskin for a gish.

Magic Missile? Ice Storm? Ice Darts? Firebrand? IGMS? IGMS is decent, I suppose, but this is a gish, isn't it? You can't be good at both melee and offensive casting, unfortunately.

Flesh to Stone is a Fortitude Negates spell. You're not going to have DCs high enough to make this very satisfying, I think.

On spell level 6, you're losing out on Superior Resistance and Greater Heroism. The latter is very important for a gish.

Someone already mentioned Deez' Repulsive Shadow Barrier as a better alternative to Shield.

The point of offensive magic spells was to have something to throw at enemy in case of trouble. IGMS was useful on few situations, the issue is that due to still spell it overlaps with energy immunity. With autostill and asoc, I should be able to spam some low-level spell in armor, or attempt to take on offensive caster role temporarily by removing the armor - if character is in a party and there's something sturdier.

I'm aware of that. Still occasionally making a statue out of low level mobs is fun.

I'll look into that one. Not sure why I didn't pick it...
