Disguise Self Spell

This spell is like a dream come true and there is so much rp potential in this. I plan to make use of this spell quite a lot on my illusionist.

However i do have some questions how exactly it functions and perhaps make a few suggestions aswell

1. Last time i used it my char name bugged and i had to RCR because i was stuck with the fake one. Even a DM changing my name didn't help. Is it safe to use now? It is quite expensive to RCR wizards and rather time consuming aswell.

2. With the spell one can change race and gender. I noticed that engine wise my character model stays the same however. For example if a halfling uses the spell and disguises as an orc his char model doesnt actually change to an orc. I feel it is rather to pointless to change race if everyone still sees you as the race you actually are. Would it be possible to change this so that the character model gets changed?

I guess this is quite a lot of work to do since there so many races. Would it possible to open up a dropdown menu with a few choices once the spell is cast which one can chose from? For example human, elf, orc, halfling, drow, etc. The most important options for now and expand it over time.

3. As far as i am aware it is only possible to see through this spell via true seeing, is that correct? Also what information does someone get who has true seeing on and looks at someone under the effect of the disguise self spell? Is he made aware that this guy is actually using a disguise self spell to alter his appearance? Or does he just simply see the correct name above the character? I am pretty sure that he should know that this dude is under the effect of an illusion and that he sees through it because of true seeing.

4. Sorry to cut into this with more questions, instead of answers, but isn't the spell a bit overpowered if it can indeed only be seen through with true seeing? The spell descriptions I found all point to that the spell should give a +10 to your disguise check: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/disguiseSelf.htm
Kind of makes the MoD class completely redundant. But that's another discussion I believe

The disguise self magic ability is bugged since last time i tried it, not sure if they fixed it. I wrote about it earlier on another thread. I'm pretty sure you dont need true seeing to see through it mechanically and the DC is often set to 0 and second impression doesnt roll... Also your name will change to that of your disguise, causing all sort of more problems like you not receiving gold from mudds consignment if you choose to sell something there.

Overhauling the Disguise system as it currently stands (including the spells) is on the QC to-do list because it is severely broken and nigh unusable at the moment. A little patience is all we ask; remember that all the content developers are volunteers.

Yeah, I noticed. 26 skill in disguise, yet my dc is always the same if I change my race... 12.
