Road from triel to soubar.

Entered the area (from soubar) as level 9 with animal companions.

Got a HUGE pack of wolves chasing me. At least twelve of them. It looks like they were spawning 4 wolves at a time, I killed first group, ran away from second, and then 3rd and fourth spawned along the tradeway.

Was it supposed to work this way? I don't remember this kind of thing happening when I entered the area as lone level 20 (well, maybe I killed them too quickly to notice the numbers).

It was very fun, though. Looked like a real wolf pack.

Some area spawns are tied to the number of players in the zone. Perhaps there was another person or group elsewhere on that map that caused a large number of spawns?

Maybe it was the animal companions? If so then that seems like poetic justice! :lol:

Sometimes people will spawn ambushes. Those ambushes stay on the map until reset. There are wolf ambushes on the northern tradeway.

Hmm I thought ambush triggers despawned after an interval. We might need to look into this, because there's no point in having spawns standing around taking up resources in an empty area.

The wolves were added to the area about 2 months ago, replacing the higher spawns that were previously there. This was done to help with low level progression in and around Soubar and so that the ant burrow is not stuck in the middle of an area with a higher CR than it.

Does sound like you copped a lot of wolves though, perhaps you had the wolves version of catnip on you. Is there such a thing? (Hmm... probably meat I suppose) :)

I am quite sure they stay, and I kind of like it that way.

Nope. No ambushes. Ambushes show text message, as far as I know. There wasn't one. Just a LOT of wolves.

Well, companion was a panther, so perhaps feline/canine rivalry played a role here. Or maybe they really wanted to play fetch with my fishing rod or something.

I actually tried to make a screenshot of my character running away from the wolf pack into sunset, but I found out that fraps failed to start.

P.S. The reason why I posted this is because I don't know for which level the area is supposed to be traversable.

Shift+Print Scr will take a screenshot and put the file in your NWN2 Document directory.

Noticed a new problem in the same area:

Ambush spawns in the area do not spawn anything.

Added variables to the wolves, so they will despawn if the map is empty. Will be included in spawn overhaul.
