Weapons with +___ Shield Bonus... losing AC

As both a bug report and a heads up:
If you change the appearance of a weapon with a +___ shield bonus, there is a good chance it will lose most/all of that shield bonus.
Lesson: Don't change the appearance. [edit: DM Echo was also unable to change the item without it bugging]
Paws has a +3/+3 Halberd, that now gives only +1 AC. I was not sure why that happened until... I bought the rapier from Shortstuff in Roaringshore, changed the appearance, and the exact same thing happened again (on another character)... only keeps the +1AC.
DM Echo replaced the rapier. Unchanged, it gives the proper +3 AC. It's definitely somehow tied to changing the appearance.

I had this happen with a large shield a year or so ago. It was +4 EB with +3 fort and 3/- DR. Neither I nor the DM could change the appearance without the DR vanishing from the shield. It still has no remedy that I know of.

Are there other weapons than the rapier with a shield bonus? Weird.
The problem is that the shield bonus is a scripted addition to the weapon, and not the standard enchantments you can just add in the toolset. And what happens when you change appearance is that the game copies the stats, but not scripts, of your weapon onto a new one with the new appearance.

The halberd was a DM award... Probably because of Paws horrid AC (before the last RCR). From what Echo was saying, he can't even find the weapon from the DM stash.
In other news, mr Mudd has a great +3 EB / +1 shield halberd for sale.

Shield AC is not SOP and cannot be normally applied to a weapon in the Toolset. I believe the Rapiers of Shielding use a tag-based script to assign shield bonus to a weapon. I believe the AppChanger transfers item properties from old to new item, but not the tag. Hence the script will no long activate OnEquip.
Call it a Feature of BG.
