Bug, has been around for years. Also you need to CLICK on the target for taunt attempt to register.

worked just fine when i was using a crossbow, prior to be stuck in Fugue bug and RCR, so i;ve assumed it would work fine on melee weapons as well.

If I remember it correclty, to successfully taunt, you needed to be within certain range of the target (that had nothing to do with your taunt range), target had to be aware of you (meaning until they start running at you, they can't be taunted), and if you had attack action queued, you'd need to cancel it manually.

IIRC it always worked this way - major pain.

i wanted to say that at melee range, while using a xbow, taunt worked as expose weakness.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info gents. Paws is a taunting SOB and this explains some of the issues I have had with using this skill.
Paws "Paws rode a dragon once! Uhm. Scales are... uncomfortable. Learned value of saddle, yep-yep."
Leo Hammersmitty Techsmith. Whhhhrrrzpt!

I have found it best to utilise taunt as a initial or interrupt action. With every 5 ranks in the skill (this includes item/charisma bonuses) the taunt range and radius increases by 5ft so its actually quite good to use as your first combat action before melee target/s have completely closed the distance.

As an interrupt action, I use taunt on my drow bardess when she is changing inspiration or after casting a spell/song/EDM in melee (but any full-round action works here, eg. drinking a potion/using a wand/throwing alchemist fire or making a full-round combat manouevre eg. whirlwind attack). What you do is queue your full round action and then queue a taunt to follow it. Your character will perform the full round action and then, in the interim while you wait for your next full-round action, you will perform the taunt action. Just dont queue a third action after the taunt action or it wont quite work properly. By the time the taunt is effected you're good to go with your next combat round.
