Bio.
Born in the slums of Chef Nasad, I'lliphril a half breed male was forced into slavery at a young age. While he was young he mostly had to do menial tasks such as washing dishes. His owners were some drow house of little renown. This house had about 10 slaves, 3 of which were half-drow. I'lliphril ended up befriending the only other male half breed, his name was Thradril.
The house Contained many males, most of which were mages. Both illiphrin and Thradril joked amount themselves that they would steal the books and scrolls from the house and become great wizards. Little did they know such am opportunity would come in a few years.
The house ended up in a conflict with another house, which is quite common. This time though, they picked a fight with a much larger house. Most of their skirmishes were in the streets, but the final one which led to the slaves freedom took place in the houses mansion. The wizard that was tasked with guarding the slaves had his books out and was deep in study. Suddenly some sort of grenade went off filling the house with smoke, the wizard guard now paranoid began casting acidic spells, they mostly missed. Thankfully one landed nearby the two slaves. They laid part of their chains in the acidic goo and managed to break their chains. The guard was filled with arrows when they approached him, they grabbed the key, his lore materials and anything else of value nearby. The two half breeds left the other slaves to their fate and fled the mansion while their masters were distracted.
After they got out of harms way, they realized they would quickly be captured again unless they found somewhere to hide. They noticed a manhole cover nearby and leaped into the sewers. They had to eat insects for days to survive their escape from the city, but they managed to do it.
I'lliphril, began reading the notes the wizard had wrote, it seemed he was trying to find a way to open a portal to the far realm much like a race of ancient elves did. He wanted to bind a powerful entity to crush the other houses and become the dominant house. I'lliphril liked the idea, although he wanted to bind such a creature to get revenge on the full blooded Drow subservient to Llolth . I'lliphril spent months researching the far realm and what powers it holds.
In the notes he stole he discovered that the wizard was frustrated as it seemed impossible to open a portal to the realm. But he believed there was a way to contact an entity and perhaps make a bargain.
I'lliphril shared his new found revelations with his life long friend Thradril, but was met with doubt. Thradril thought it was a waste of time as they aren't even sure it exists, he said that he should just join a magic school or even pay a mage to summon a devil for him. They fought all night over this and parted ways in the morning, desperate to prove Thradril wrong I'llphril continued his research.
I'lliphril followed the steps in the journal for the next 4 years until he reached the same point the wizard had. He figured his best chance was to find a being that has contacted or even been to this realm. He read book after book and drank at many taverns trying to hear about someone who could be of assistance. He ended up finding a lead after conversing with some Illithid traders, one of the Savant Aboliths in llurth Dreier may have regular contact with a far realm entity. It was a dangerous hike, but he made it to the city of Ooze. The local religion made it a bit easier to get around as a half breed, but speaking to a powerful being like that was quite a task. He spent 3 months preforming tasks and bribing temple officials to even gain an audience with the Abolith.
The day had come, the day he had been waiting for most of his teenage/adult life. He was escorted into a dark chamber, there was a giant pool in the center where the Abolith lives. As he approached the pool, he felt a sharp pain run through his body. The Abolith began communicating to him telepathically after the pain faded.
I know who you are and what you want. I'm impressed with your dedication. I will do as you ask, but you really do not know what you're getting yourself into. I am not doing this out of kindness, I want to see what happens when "one of you" has contact with these entities.
Before he could even respond to it he saw a flash of light, then found himself in a place that really made no sense. It seemed more like a strange dream or looking at a piece of very disturbing art. Then he saw it, what ever this entity was it seemed familiar but wrong in every sense. He could feel it was attempting to communicate with him, but it did not communicate in words, sounds or even telepathy it is impossible to describe. All he understood was that he would be granted his revenge but at a great cost and he would know what that cost was when the time comes. After what felt like an eternity in this realm he was back in the chamber, but this time everything seemed wrong. after a few seconds looking at his surroundings he fell and began to have a seizure.
He awoke an hour later laying face down in a gutter outside the temple. At first he thought it all was just a dream, then he began getting paranoid that he was just scammed and robbed. He didn't feel powerful, he didn't feel anything different at all. He stormed out of this city in rage, cursing his foolishness. He set up camp for the night outside the city and began burning his books out of anger. His anger did not prevent him from sleeping that night, the dreams he had that night changed him forever.
the dream
I'lliphril awoke in the mansion of his previous captors, he had slept in their bed. Normally if that would have happened he would be beaten, but this time there was silence. He noticed a mirror on the far side of the room and felt compelled to walk over to it. When he looked into the mirror he recoiled in horror, what he saw did not look like him, it didn't look like anything he had ever seen before. A mass of wriggling flesh with countless mouths and eyes stared back at him from the mirror, he looked down and saw that the image in the reflection WAS him. A blood curdling scream came from behind him, the entire family of drow was dead and half eaten. It took a moment to register what he just saw, but the room transformed into that horrid realm. The being that he saw appeared all around him and let out a horrible moan.
He awoke in his bedroll screaming.
A nearby patrol ran to the noise and saw him curled up screaming, they pointed their weapons at him trying to not get to close. I'lliphrin tried to tell them that he was alright but only gibberish came out. The patrol seemed ready to attack him when a vision of that entity overtook his senses. He blacked out for who knows how long only to find that the guards were dead and had ripped their own eyes out. Scared of what happened and what would happen to him if we was found like that he fled, he didn't know where he was going and it didn't matter to him.
The next few months were a blur, he would black out randomly and after someone would always either be dead or have gone completely insane. The blackout became less frequent but an alien state of mind took over most of the time, he began to learn how to utilize his powers but lost his mind in the process. He still has occasional moments of clarity but those seem to be becoming fewer by the day.
Having lived in house full of wizards he remembered one name, a city, Sshamath. Perhaps the wizards there could help teach him to control this power...
(As for Thradril, what became of him may come up eventually )
