Looking to rent +3 ac boots.
As i mentioned in another post my +3 ac boots vanished without a trace when i logged in yesterday. They were a very important part of my gear and i desperately need a replacement but i have no coin as i used it all to buy the pair that disappeared, lol irony. As such if anyone has a spare pair or will loan a pair out to me until i can get the coin to purchase them i would be infinitely grateful. Is anyone willing to help?

Hey V'rass. I think I have a spare pair just sitting around on my mule, you're welcome to take them off my hands. Don't worry about giving them back ^^

Since Cecilia's in such a giving mood, my orc will take some +4 dodge boots.

A +4 boot to the face, maybe. ♥Flasmix wrote:Since Cecilia's in such a giving mood, my orc will take some +4 dodge boots.
And you're welcome V'rass. Just give me a poke when you get in game if I'm around and I'll hand them over to you if I'm not otherwise occupied.

Your boots are gone too? My Boots of the Stalwart Defender seem to have disappeared. That's weird.V'rass wrote:As i mentioned in another post my +3 ac boots vanished without a trace when i logged in yesterday. It was a fun year (I think). Bye.

Those things along with +4 AC amulets and mithral full plates are like unicorns in real life as far as I can tell. Everyone knows they don't actually exist.Flasmix wrote:Since Cecilia's in such a giving mood, my orc will take some +4 dodge boots.

Nah, they do. There is a guy who has been unsuccessfully trying to sell mithral full plate for 2 or 3 weeks now. Nobody has the money.finneas wrote:Those things along with +4 AC amulets and mithral full plates are like unicorns in real life as far as I can tell. A little rant about that:NegInfinity wrote: Nah, they do. There is a guy who has been unsuccessfully trying to sell mithral full plate for 2 or 3 weeks now. Nobody has the money.
Well, according to Karonds excellent topic ( http://www.bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=18282 ) a Mithral Full Plate has a value of ~400.000gp.
Even if I had the two million gold said player demands for his full plate - I wouldn't pay it. Somewhere this whole
"Gold has no meaning, and if you want good items please grind for a year - and I mean: grind daily, do nothing else and thereby lose all fun in playing the game - just to own one (ONE!) lousy item afterwards."
has to end.
Let's be honest - it's one point of AC above several other armours which are way less expensive (I got a mithral breastplate recently - still expensive but not ridiculously so). Yes, I know: if you add it up (one point at the boots, one point add the amulet, one point at the armour . . . ) it's four (five?) more points of non-dispellable AC - absolutely correct.
But if you have to pay millions of gold for each of these items you'll do nothing else but to grind until the end of days.
Not my definition of "fun", sorry.
If the player would ask for ~500k he'd perhaps have sold it by now.
(Not to mention that those +4 items are sold with such a low frequency anyway that it doesn't matter for most of the players, or if they are up on auction they are only up for trade - which is understandable, given the system I just lost a few words about.)
(By the way: That whole non-existant "economy" is another reason why I'm looking forward very much to the announced crafting system. - It may introduce new problems - who knows? - but at least it will give a bit of a more reliable source of magical items to players who don't (want to) spend their whole time on the server running through every dungeon with a chest a level-30-char can still loot.
Seeing said level 30 chars waltzing through the abandoned mine north of Beregost, for example, is plain ridiculous. But that's another topic and a possible can of worms

I think this thread has served it's purpose. Before it gets further off topic - V'rass got his boots!

Indeed. I meant my post to be lighthearted and fun, not to derail the thread into a rant about gear. Apologies.Hidennka wrote:I think this thread has served it's purpose. Before it gets further off topic - V'rass got his boots!

Somehow, the word rent makes me sad. Perhaps we need a gnome economist and use words like "trickle down economics", "shareholder meetings", "derivatives", and such.

Nah. Your previous response gave me an idea.Hidennka wrote:I think this thread has served it's purpose.
Now we must debate whether a +4 dodge boot would still grant dodge ac bonus if equipped as a helmet. And whether it should stack with normal dodge ac bonus from the boots equipped on feet.Hidennka wrote: A +4 boot to the face, maybe. ♥

How about a half-orc barbarian using words like "protection money" "accident insurance" and "one-time usage fee" *thumps club in han smiling*?Maximvs wrote:Somehow, the word rent makes me sad.
