Ghost Items

Not sure if anyone else is getting this, but my equipped items are showing up in my inventory when I log in. I can't seem to get them to go away and they move my items when I try to move them. They show up in 2 separate places. I know this happens sometimes.. but now it appears it happens to the same ring every time I log in. It also sits in the same inventory slot every time too.

Move another unrelated item into that 'ghost' item's slot. If it's the 'ghost' item it will vanish completely. If it's the real item it will merely swap places with the unrelated item you moved there. Repeat again to remove the second, ghost duplicate.

And by the way, never ever ever sell a 'ghost' item. Both it and the original will vanish from your inventory and you'll have to buy it back from the merchant you sold it to.

Thank you for the reply.. I noticed that the same character when she logs in has her weapon and armor equipped and unequipped multiple times before I load in. Is this normal?

Yes. It is a script firing.

Which is what causes a number of issues, including characters starting with damage, even when they logged off with none.

And prevents certain exploits, which is why it was created.

As a player of a caster with spell-slot items, its a pain. As a former DM that saw the kind of thing this prevents, I am all for it.

I understand why it's there. I question whether it could be done less intrusively. Or whether the downsides could be compensated somehow, like first rest being "free".

Oh, I agree with ya. A free rest area in the nexus would be nice. I wasn't disagreeing with the fact that it has some downside.

Just clearing it up for those that may not have been around back then. There is a reason for the madness.

Maybe someone PM this idea up to QC or the DMs for consideration?

I imagine it might well be possible to set a Nexus NPC to DM rest players. But I'd want QC to make sure there was no way to abuse or exploit it.

Edit: I went ahead and posted the idea to the QC for their consideration. It won't fix duplicate item images in your inventory every now and again if this goes in at some point (as that's a NWN2 problem, I believe), but just use DM Ninox's advice for those for now.

And to repeat and stress Nino's addendum: Don't sell ghost items. You don't have two of them, even if it looks like it. :P If you try to sell the "duplicate" you've just sold "both" items.
