Elf Warrior Loremaster

Unread post by panzerschokolade »

Ok, I think about a character and I have quite clear idea personality and plot wise.
Thing is, I can't translate it into game mechanic language in efficient way - while I have some experience, it's mostly for 20 lvl builds (server I played the most was capped there) and BGTSCC changes are completely alien to me (at example, i thought of using snowflake wardance but it appeared to me that it isn't here), so I'd appreciate some help

It would be a moon elf, loremaster specializing in seeking, gathering, keeping and sharing elf-related knowledge BUT not an arcane one. I prefer martial characters so I'd like for him to be mostly melee fighter in combat, kind of warrior-poet. Not neccesarily completely without magic (actually i think bard would be most fitting for main class) BUT he should do most of he job with his sword, not spells or supernatural abilities.

Basically
Race: Moon elf
Weapon: Longsword, scimitar, falchion. Rapier IF it would be REALLY beneficial to use finesse, but I'd prefer something out of former three
Starting class: Any, though it seems for me that the rest is only possible with bard
As much lore skills as possible, perform, after that anything that's useful (though, spot, listen and survival would be fitting on an elf)
As competent in melee combat as possible, if balance between single-enemy focus versus multiple foes would be issue the former is strongly preferred.

Maybe bard/tempest/divine champion? DC to help gain some feats, tempest for ac/dual wielding? 17 DEX required along with 13 charisma (requires +3 CHA item), max strength.

Note that this will be dispelled, but you did say focus more on martial rather than spells... B21/Dc4/T5 will give bard cl25.

+3, is that because it is absolute max of item attribute bonus on server
or because it is relatively affordable/easy to get?

The question is mainly because I don't know if i should aim for odd or even scores at the end.

Also, wouldn't dervish also work? It basically shares the prereqs, and while it would totally gimp caster-side of the character, save of few utilities and buffs, it seems to give much power in melee. It also depends how this class is looked upon, does it have to RP wise be some desert nomad, or can i just treat it as sort of sworddancer without any limiting backlore?

Would something like this work?

I asummed odd attributes and swapped DC to fighter for additional feat spent on spec. It seems to lack on dmg per hit so I judged that +2 dmg is worth more than slight buff to saves + smite.

Power Attack should work on the main hand, but worth testing, just to make sure. You've got very close to one of my characters and I can vouch that it works OK.

This looks fine, thanks. In mine I missed few changes on BG from original Kaedrin's pack, again...

Question is, dread pirate seems to be a HEAVY thematic stretch, way heavier than dervish. It isn't a problem for me, as I already see classes as sets of skills that characters learn, not some labeling boxes (besides classes tied with certain codes/pacts/ethoses/organizations like paladin, monk, warlock, druid, or Red Wizard, and Dread Pirate isn't one of them in my opinion), but I wonder how people see this here, cause I'm certainly not going to RP this as anything even close to a pirate, or even able to do anything useful around the ship :D
