Subject: State of the Server: 2016-2017

But as above, it has been more than two months since we lost touch with our admin. Furthermore, since we opened the new Paypal, we've only received $0.67 in donations (which was basically a $1 test donation, sans Paypal's processing fees).
I had sort of been operating on the premise that there might be $300-600 in Luna's account to continue paying for our services, but if the above is any indication of our general donation trends, I feel this may have been an overly optimistic assumption.
For that reason, I am going to go ahead and move forward with plans to transition the server and the website to new hosts. I feel like continuing to wait around until the lights get turned off would be irresponsible at this point. I will be attempting to make the transition happen this June.
Maecius and the Staff are making an effort to keep the Server going by finding a new Host...and it seems, it will happen soon. There will be a cost, as there are always costs—per month—to keep the Server alive and sailing smoothly.
Thus, a shameless plug, to ask of this Community to
use that Paypal link in the upper header of the Forum, and swell the coffers so that the transition to keep the Server alive, and the monthly costs for the foreseeable future, secure and fairly funded.
We don't have to pay to play on BGTSCC, but anyone that logs on does experience a direct entertainment benefit from the good work so many people
give freely. But all that considered, the Server requires fees to exist, and who is better suited to support it, than us, the Community of Players.
Paypal is Up!!

I just donated $100 as well through PayPal. I imagine not all of us can afford to pledge large amounts, but every little bit adds up. Here's to keeping the server alive and well. Even with my fairly limited play time, I feel I'm more than getting my money's worth.
And hopefully Luna is also alive and well, and that this mysterious disappearance gets resolved soon.

For what it's worth, I do plan to be a little more transparent than Luna was with regards to the server's general funds.
The way I see it, at this point in time, with all the blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into it, nobody really owns BG:TSCC except for its community of players.
And the community and everyone in it should be aware of how their server's doing.
I'll probably do monthly updates for right now, but once we've transitioned everything over to new hosts I'll aim for biweekly updates.
If nothing else, it should prevent us from being in the dark about the financial health of the server.
All that being said, please do not give more than you can easily afford. This shouldn't be a heavy lift for anyone, and no one should feel solely responsible to cover all costs.
Also don't give so much that it causes me headaches come tax season.

We're not registered as a non-profit or anything.
Finally, it is also my hope that we can work it so that overall monthly costs will be lower than they are now (without losing any quality of service), and I have Endelyon and Zanniej helping me with that, as well as a few suggestions from others to look into.

Unfortunately I am not sure. He has not replied from any of the email accounts I have for him, and no one appears to have his phone number.
I can only hope he is well wherever he is.

Not bad! If you'd like to PM me your experiences with them? Such prices tend to scare me a little bit

Sent. I haven't seen similar options in other providers, particularly if you take advantage of the higher memory capacity listings. $109/mo for 64 GB of ram is nice.

Absolutely! I've seen those prices for about 4GB ram

Luna used to let me mail money. I do not feel comfortable using paypal. Please provide alternative payment methods. If you add bitcoin (btc), I will send some in. There are many ways to receive BTC these days, so, try looking into it.
*edit*
On a side note, I think we should register as the non profit "Church of BGTSCC." All DMs should be ordained too.

These links can help you set up a way to donate BTC, and I think they offer buttons and many other features.

Both are worth looking into and comparing options.
