Hey can anyone enlighten me why in the current state of the server Black Orcs are not a race allowed to be played?
Yet we can play grey orcs?

Something to do with Zoos, I think.

I'm more triggered than Harambe was.

Would make more sense to rename gray orcs as black orcs. The gray ones comes from Mulhorand, pretty far place from the west coast.

It's come up frequently (the idea to change gray orcs to black orcs, which are server specific orcs that have no lore basis, but did play a large role in a couple of metaplots, and now have a [semi]permanent presence on the server).
I don't recall why it wasn't done. Possibly because it would affect existing gray orcs? But I'd have to go look back at the last decision. Possibly because the last time it came up we had nobody on staff capable of editing the 2das/character race files.

That was were it ended...plus, as part of the DM Team debating it at the time, there was an inability to figure out what the Favored Class would be (let me tell you, I argued for something POWERFUL, cause it was nearly universally agreed playing a Black Orc would be a constantly hunted 24/7 type of RP, and the Player Race could use some help). But I think the last Favored Class that had most promise the the
Hunter base class, which as well, never made it to prime time (though QC did approve it a looooong time ago).

So is there a chance that this could happen? Playing a Black Orc would be worlds more interesting then playing grey and it gives me and im sure others more incentive to play orcs in general knowing we can play the correct orc race and not some knock off brand.
Just my opinion how-ever.

It's certainly possible, but it's not
currently in discussion (outside of this thread) and would have to be picked up by QC for a re-review and approval. If it were then given the go-ahead by the QC, the DMs would next need to agree to sign off on it (though since it is such a server-appropriate race, this
may not be as much an issue as ensuring it's balanced?), then the .2da will have to be edited and implemented by one of the devs as their time and energy permits.
In other words, I could see it happening. But I can't
easily see it happening in the next couple of weeks, if you're immediately hankering for some Black Orc RP.
The main hurdle is where it leaves existing gray orc builds, and how they're handled. Depending on what changes and how, it could force rebuilds or nullify (or complicate) existing RP, which is something we typically try to avoid doing. If it was just a name change and nothing else, it might not be as much an issue.
Of course we could probably have both gray orcs and black orcs available. I'm
fairly sure that's possible, if we have the .2da wizards available, and they have enough mana.

How are black orcs different to grey orcs in appearance other then skin color?, Should there be any difference in stats or racial feats? and do you have a description of the race.

I think they get spell resistance 11+char level which makes them on par with drow. (without the sun blindness + underdark life). With the amount of gray orcs I see going into BG for quests without even an AFK thing above their heads I wonder....
But I'm all for new races even if they are the OP flavor of orc. Next the Yaun-ti insurrection ?? I sure hope.
EDIT: Ok so after looking I can't confirm the spell resistance even though I seem to remember a DM giving one spell resistance once. They do get daylight adaption though afaik.

I posted it to the QC for group consideration.
The stats were not and are not set in stone, so they're not worth quoting yet. At last conversation there were three different suggestions for them.
The race wouldn't be extremely powerful, though. It would be about as balanced as the others.
If it's included it will be to enhance roleplay, not to create monster builds.

But I thought it was a monster race....

I personally do not see how playable orcs enhance roleplay, be they grey or mountain orcs. One thing that roaming bands of orc PC's are good for is creating a sense of real danger on the roads. That's about the only positive thing I can think of in regard to playable orcs, and I do not think that's enough to warrant their inclusion, especially if we weigh it against the negative aspects of such RP.
As for Black orcs, that is not a race as far as I know, it's a tribe homebrewed specifically for bgtscc. A tribe which somehow manages to rise from the ashes year in, year out

Unless it was homebrewed to be an actual orc subrace?

Either way you put it, Black Orcs ARE indeed a race on the server. A race that i and im sure others would like to see as a playable race not for "OP Builds" But to play the orc race that accually has presence on the server and let me not quote myself again. "Their own accual Black Orc Tribe area" (Not Grey Orc). Just like the Elves and Doron Amar.

The proper Race would be Mountain Orcs.
Mountain orcs all possess the following racial traits:
+4 Strength, —2 Intelligence, —2 Wisdom, —2 Charisma: Mountain orcs are fantastically strong, but they react to situations with violence and poor planning.
Medium-size.
Mountain orc land speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision up to 60 feet.
Proficient with the greataxe and javelin. Mountain orcs train with weapons from childhood.
Light Sensitivity (Ex): Mountain orcs suffer a —1 penalty on attack rolls in bright sunlight or within the radius of a daylight spell.
Orc Blood: For all special abilities and effects, a mountain orc is considered an orc. Mountain orcs, for example, can use or create orc weapons and magic items with racially specific orc powers.
Automatic Languages: Common and Orc. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Giant, Goblin.
Favored Class: Barbarian.
