As a temporary measure to try to ease the pain of the DDOS attack, I'll be enabling the old host if the main one goes down.

Please bear in mind that I won't be transferring the character vault back and forth over and over again. This is JUST a temporary measure to allow players to connect and RP under the circumstances. You will lose experience, items, and progress that you earn on the second server for the time being--no exceptions.

It should list itself on the player counter above when it's open.

Just to clarify, if someone logs in on the new host, data will be kept and normal attempts to recover it will be made in extenuating circumstances. If someone logs in on the old host, its just to play, nothing will be recovered?

I assume the old host will be open with it's old IP too or there will be some indication upon or before logging in that your actions this session are temporary, to prevent confusion?

@ Boddy: Yes, exactly. It's just so you can still continue your RP if it got interrupted by the DDOS attack and you might not be around to come back to it by the time it's mitigated.

Because people were enjoying their RP when the DDOS attack started, and they might wish to continue enjoying it despite the fact that they won't be able to keep experience gains (which were probably minor anyway).

Are you using OVH on the new host?

Kind of sucks that it's still going on. Are any of these DDoS just... random or is there really someone behind them all that hates BG and does it constantly? I mean... It's been going on for years. Or can someone just pay a bunch of hackers to do it once in a while? Assuming I hated the NWN servers and did so, I would've lost patience years ago and drop it >.>

Well, this last attack lasted about an hour and a half and I was able to keep the main server online and running fine through almost 80 minutes of it. A 10-15 minute outage is a far cry from the down time we were seeing in the past. On the other hand, a more permanent solution will be in place soon enough. In the mean time, your patience is appreciated.

I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread. I should have posted it as an announcement, probably. If anyone has any other feedback or concerns please contact me through a PM.
