Do item spell immunities work?

Acc. to the combat log, my character has just had her Heroism removed with a Lesser Dispel spell (cast by an Orc Mystic) even though she was wearing a Spell Immunity: Lesser Dispel amulet at the time. Are these immunities not to be trusted?

I'm not sure I know of any spell immunity actually working. Spell immunity cloudkill on a belt doesn't work either.

If it gives immunity to an AoE spell, it will not work. Single target spells work fine though.

Is this something mechanically unfixeable?

The problem is that such items exist. Somehow it's consistent that only spells are affected by spell resistance with a clear target.

So and so.
Spells that do not have a spell resistance check, are dispels or are area of effect spells generally ignore these immunities. For example Arc of Lightning (no spell resistance check), greater dispel (is a dispel) or cloudkill (area of effect) immunities are basically worthless.
The other spells generally work with these immunities, but the randomized loot table system doesn't include that many spells and certainly not the most useful ones. You typically get immunities like magic missile, flame arrow or harm at best, and its not possible to get immunities to bigby spells, polar ray or such.

AoE spells from NPC casters was changed to always target a ground location to center the AoE... if say a PC casts the AoE directly at a target with a spell immunity to that spell, I believe it works to protect the targeted creature.
