light blindness acting weird

Unread post by Theodore01 »

The character suffers -1 circumstance penalty to attack rolls, saves, and skill checks when outside in daylight.

However it applies some worse effect nowadays (on a gray orc) :

Sometimes the Blind icon stays on the character and i got an attack malus of -2 or -3 to AB.
Sometimes i got a "xyz.. is momentarily blinded by the light", then i got no blind effect.

Ohh, even in the fugue i got blinded :o

Is that a new feature or a bug?

It is a feature. Essentially it enables the light-blindness penalty, which never worked before.
So it was convenient we didn't need to alter the descriptions anywhere.

Getting a bigger penality (-2 or -3 to AB ) than in the description is not a feature, it's a nerf.

Don't get me wrong, its fine that a broken feat gets fixed.

And please update the custom changes to reflect that - so that we all know what features we choose ;) (That applies to all changed feats.)

Just bumping this because light blindness still seems to be mysterious. According to the character sheet and my recent experience IG, it does NOT do what the original description says, but rather:

1) permanently lower AB by 3 in outdoor areas.
2) permanently lower saves by 1 in outdoor areas.
3) occasionally impose a short-term blindness effect that makes opponents untargetable and that cannot be warded against by way of spells or Immunity-to-Blindness/Deafness items.

Is this description accurate? Can the effect be influenced by any items or spells? Is the frequency of the blindess effect affected by the time of day/night (which would be a good rp feature as it would encourage players to play their light-blind toons more often at night and vice versa).

Given that this nerf is drastic enough to make Daylight Adaptation a serious consideration for light-blind surface races, it would be good if we could have accurate information as to how the blindness effect works.

This is actually pretty old, a year or two. I am glad to see more Orcs experiencing in seeing the light.
If the text is this color, I am on duty, everything else is just my humble opinion.
