Question in regards to Arcane-Fire

Archmage has the feat called "Arcane Fire".
I got a cuple of questions in regard to this feat, and how it works in regards to a Sorcerer.
I'm told that you click on "Spontaneous conversion" after having activated the toggle feat you get (On/off respectfully).
However, since Sorcerers already have spontaneous conversion available (you click it and weird stuff happens, like growing whiskers of have thousands of tiny explosions around you happen). Does the game simply switch between your natural spontaneous conversion (random stuff) and the Arcane fire (1d6 magic per level of spell)? Has anyone actually had Arcane-Fire on a sorcerer that can tell how it works.
As to the 1d6 magic damage per level. Do I read that correctly?
Cantip: 1d6
