Requesting a archeress / crossbowsniper

Unread post by lum »

Hihi,

I'm looking for a build for my elven character Soraya. I'm hopeless myself at making something good.

The build I got from someone is only good in the late levels. So I am told. It seems so though since I drained her coin countless of times on arrows and healing kits. She is indeed not good at taking down enemies on lower levels.

The build intended before I did an RCR myself was a rogue(or ranger)-assassin-elemental archeress-anointed knight. After a lot of ups and downs (mostly downs), I rcr'd her and messed it up more I'm afraid by taking just rogue shadowdancer, and I may have taken some bad feats as well as on the wrong time. So I'm looking to rcr again anyways.

Currently Soraya is at level 14. She's a moon elf who in her past has been experimenting with crossbows as well as bows (light/heavy/short/long). So icly her path could be anything for the matter of her favorite weapon. She also learned how to hide very well and how to sneak in order to survive. She's not someone who would murder for coin or fun, but she will (and should be able to) kill fast if her life is threatened. She may have picked up some lessons in magic albeit nothing really great, so bard is out as well as a mighty wizard or something. Ranger or assassin magic is an option I suppose. I'd also see her able to use magic from items or scrolls.

As for the rest of her rp skills I would have to think, but she isn't very diplomatic nor intimidating. I'm also still looking for ideas what she could be and mean in the entire setting. See possible rp hooks.

Thank you in advance.

Well, I got a few options you could pick.

1: Based on Wood Elf, but you can most likely changed that, just make sure your end str gives you +3 or +4 with Items to get max out of bow damage.

+ Damage is utterly insane damage... as in, you will murder -everything- at most levels with this one... Like... Seriously.
- Few skills.
- Low saves.
- glass cannon, must play carefully.
* AC is lowish(if you got +3 all around): 40
* Gets hips, but very very late, after that. Everything is a breeze.

2: I made this one for a few people asking. The build can be mostly moderated for any race and alignment, very flexible and reliable.

+Decent damage.
+x2 types of elemental damage.
+Decent saves.
+Good amount of Skillpoints.
+Moderate AC: 42 (if you got +3 all around).
+Has Hips.
+Can be any alignment.
-Hips at 18.
-Have to explain Dragonwarrior-elemental archer combo rp-wise.
*You can mess around with the current chosen skills as you please.

Both moltrazahns builds are very nice and will work great.

I believe that an archer, especially an elven archer should be great at tracking, That is why the swift tracker feat from ranger or Wilderness stalker is essential on my archer builds. Tracking is one commonly used feat on events, even though DMs usually dont take into account the swift tracking feat ( which is tracking faster while moving ) instead they just ask for survival rolls :D

If such a concept interests you, then i would suggest to you the following build

http://nwn2db.com/build/?159362

It has everything an archer needs - Good damage ( average of 26 per hit ), 4d6 Death attack, swift tracking, evasion, One shot, Good enough AB, some points in survival and heal which can be used to heal your character while in stealth. Also at level 14 you will have everything you need for an archer - Hips and good damage.

An adaptation you can do to this build, other than changing the starting ability points, is to change the Arcane archer levels 6-9 for ranger and get Camouflage, which means you can run while in hips in outdoor areas. It can be very useful however the extra AB and Damage from AA is excellent as well. Tough choice.

Another build that might interest you is Ranger21/Assassin9. It can get both Archery and PTWF and the damage is great. It is a very late bloomer though.

I'm not the best either but NWN2 DB helps, just search what you are looking for make sure to tag it with BGTSCC.

I have one like moltrazahn's first, except mine is a Moon Elf with less minmaxed stats. It's pretty effective. Personally I'm not so keen on the second build as IMO Assassin is just too good to give up if you're going sneak.

A much simpler build is a Crossbow Sniper Bard26/F4. 16 Cha and pump Dex. This is actually much easier to play at lower-mid levels but is not as strong at high Epics.

1. Doesn't have full HiPS

2. Has poor damage against non-FEs

3. Doesn't have Tumble, UMD or Spellcraft as Class skills

I'd want to fix two of those by taking a dip (more than one and you're dispellable).
