Question, are the rune spells worth it? Was thinking about taking rune of ice on a frost mage. Not sure if my immunity will protect myself from piercing cold? Also if the feat is worth it every 30 seconds... anyone help enlighten me?

The frost mage ability ( piercing cold ) wont work with the rune.

Personally i dont like those feats and i have never bothered with them because i think they are not effective.

Should I go with perhaps a winters blast feat? Just looking for a way to sustained damage things while summons run about.
Figured the rune of ice would be nice for a group setting. Thanks for the heads up about the piercing cold.

Honestly, I agree with mrm3ntalist to a point. Wizards generally don't have any sustained damage other than a crossbow/bow etc. But the damage those do is not really that great. Having a reserved feat does help... especially for the aoe ones.

Hit or miss, you aren't going to do a lot of damage, but you do burn up a feat. I have seen them used and the mages have done well with themselves in a fight, and I feel like I am useless compared to them. But to each their own.

well you have some feat you can get but i allways find them bored

Mechanically, you are better off not taking reserve feats and runes unless you go arcane trickster. We might want to consider if any changes should be made, but things seem pretty balanced as they are at the moment. Reserve feats and runes are not useless, but they offer another good low level play style option.

Frost mages are pretty cool RP wise and maybe something can be done. If piercing cold is to OP on runes, maybe we could adjust it a bit to limit total damage.
