Suggestion: Avernus

A suggestion inspired by the Epic Items thread:
1) Purchasing items from the fiend merchant should shift your alignment a couple of points each time (or purchase). I mean, you're literally making a deal with the devil (or demon or whatever it is). That can't be good right? I mean, this isn't Sigil.
2) Have a percentage chance that the items one buys are cursed after purchased! And the curse will manifest only after you hit the little okay button.
3) any good alignments entering Avernus should double the CR of spawns, representing the mobs and the amount of attention they're drawing to themselves for even going into the Hells.
4) Random .000001 encounter with Asmodeus who's very presence does not allow revives and is stronger than the White. Revive only possible after a reset.

Well, first thing's first. Someone should probably fix the fact that you can't currently actually leave Avernus once you enter.
The quest chain isn't working properly.

That explains why I haven't been able to find an exit despite spending several hours (over a few trips) at this point looking for one. I thought Tfunke was just particularly good at hiding it.

Since Avernus contains the Epic Shop, I guess I'll add my thought here.
My thought is that this Epic Shop has an actual option to utilize this NPC Merchant BESIDES either a) fighting your way into Hell in order to purchase goods, b) as Chad put it" "talking to Darius Trading Company" or any other railroading RP to make a purchase possible.
So maybe my "b" there doesn't sound so nice, but c'mon guys: can you please come up with a way to give Players the freedom to access an Epic Shop through some alternative method that doesn't require mechanical power and/or the need to depend on other Players?
As has been promoted in that other thread, this Epic Shop was added to give Players the chance to have the highest of high tier items, though they may never be in a DM event or even that into RP in order to be gifted an item as an RP Reward.
So it still seems odd that there cannot be some more neutral and possible manner in which this Epic Shop can be accessed.

Steve,
That example was made in light of the remark that items should be flagged as plot and it takes away one RP possibility. There were already epic vendors added in existing areas, though obviously not with as high powered epic items. In addition, with crafting on the way (hopefully) soon there will be additional ways for players to obtain epic items, not to mention the fact that no one said other epic stores would not be added in the future. I don't have any Darius PC's and have only RP'd with one or two of them that I know of, I just used that example because they had been named previously. No one was trying to 'railroad' anything.

Well, if more get added in in the future, I would love to see more flails to pick from. I think the Avernus store only has one flail in the entirety of the special goods store, and it gives two weapon fighting, while my character is a tank-type of character. She is one of those that barely does damage but can't get hit. However, for the character things such as scimitars and other weapons like that just do not fit, even though she could wield them just as adequately... I like flails.

I just have to agree with Steve here. I don't play this game as much as I used to, but I was still quite excited to hear about this new epic shop. A little less excited to learn that it was pretty much only accessible to those who
already have powerful items/builds/friends. Even though I possess some epic gear, it does feel like some of us are missing out here. Would be sweet if everyone (with enough coin, of course) could get the chance to spend mightily!

An alignment based shop is silly. Unless you have an exact copy of that store for the other alignments. I dont have a singel character in my vault that could justify buying from a devil IC. I dont care if i have to fight to get to it but there needs to be another more neutral version.

The promise of greater power as a temptation is a staple theme in fantasy settings such as ours. Making a deal with a devil for the promise of power is appropriate and can have some RP ramifications in and of itself. That being said, I don't like the idea of ANY mechanical means of adjusting ones alignment without DM oversight, as it opens the door to a whole mess of exploitative cheese builds (Paladin/Bards come to mind, fantastic saves without even the feat requirements of the blackguard PrC...).

Making a deal with the devil can also have NO RP ramifications, on BGTSCC.
But if you want to go there: once it becomes IC knowledge that certain powerful artifacts are actually goods traded/bought FROM HELL...how does that NOT put any Good-moraled Character in a bind to actually collect/possess such an item?!?
Simply put: the Epic Shop better served RP in general if it was is a neutral setting and not only accessible through mechanical might means, or, by relying on other Players to bridge the gap.

Shops are easy to clone once they've been made. If you want a second shop in a more neutral location it's always something you could suggest to the devs for a future update.
That being said, I doubt it would be cloned right away -- that'd kind of rob people of reasons to go to Tfunke's new area. The shop is its primary selling point in terms of attracting players and RP to that map right now. Especially if it's a one-way trip at the moment.
The fact that people are selling the items second-hand already is also interesting to me, as it suggests it's already generating RP by making the items a valuable commodity for merchant RP and merchant PCs. If we made the NPCs too easily accessible, there'd be no reason to go through a PC middle-man.
It'd be less "epic shop" and more "expensive shop."

While I appreciate all the free publicity for the guild (thank you very much!) nobody from our camp has done this RP'ly or even gone there IC'ly to my knowledge.

Did someone say railroading?
