FAI - Adelaide - Selling Mithral Full Plate [Closed]

Unread post by Glowfire »

Adelaide sets up a note in the Friendly Arm Inn saying that she is looking to sell a Mithral Full Plate.

Stated on the note, is that she also considers trades for paladin items (spell slots of any level, etc).

I would like to make a bid of 100 bags of gold for that armor. Look for Lani Blackvein if you find that acceptable.

Draviir, a strongly built human, approaches and offers four times the previous bid. "400 sacks for that thing."

"Sorry Lani, you have been outbid." Adelaide sends an apologetic smile his way.

Looking to Dravir, she nods at the bid. "It is not as high as I would sell it for but it is not a final bid either, I hope!"

Draviir sighs, "Then what would you sell it for? Quickly now, I'm not in the mood for games. 500 sacks?"

Draviir looks first to the newcomer, then back to the merchant. "You trying to con me? I've taken the blade to men for less! You two can continue this together, maybe eventually you'll fool someone. But very soon 500 bags will be much more than you can get for a piece like this."
He looks them both over one more time, perhaps remembering their every feature for a later time. With that done, he turns and walks off.

Before Adelaide is able to answer Draviir, the man has already soured. Adelaide looks confused. "I am not out to con anyone, nor would my goddess approve of deceits like it... Fare you well, mister."

Her amber eyes turn to the man with worn clothes. "I apologize. It looks like your bid is highest currently. I do not want to be crass but are you able to pay for it, should I decide to sell for that sum?"

A tall man in blue robes would walk to the stall looking at the item that would seem to be up for barter. He would walk to the women selling the items leaning in close atleast in whisper distance.

The tattered old man say looking at the merchant. "I not raise hand if had not the coin." almost if offended he then scoff at two gentlman before standing still and stare at sky.

"They answer, says full plate ours, not yours, we bought someones else"

The tattered man walks away in a huff, cane on hand.

"Where be them?"

is spoken when walking away, looking around.

"I apologize but I would want to know you and yours would be fed properly before I took such coin." Adelaide's eyes take in the man's clothing and state, before meeting his eyes again, trying to make a point of the man's appearance. "As you say, you have found what you seek somewhere else. Thank you for the time and interest."

Adelaide then listens to the blue dressed man's whisper and looks down at a note, eyes widening in surprise.

A pot-bellied halfling would take note of the advertisement. He makes his way over to the woman as the tall man in blue leans in and whispers to her, but stops short.
Brown eyes widen in fear as he notices the man's mask...
The rotund fellow waits until the hoodlum walks off before approaching Adelaide.

"I wouldn't trust a bleedin' word outta that one's mouth. How'd he even get in here with that damned mask on?!" He throws his hands up. "In any case, I saw yer notice about the mithral armor. I'll be willing to offer 350 bags of gold for it. What say you?" He offers a gold-toothed grin and tucks one hand into the pocket of a fine waistcoat that barely contains his gut.

[According to kkrazlite, Aeb'el is wearing a religious band about his upper face.]

Adelaide composes herself, the note left by the blue robed man still in her hand. "I am sorry but I will not accept a bid under 500 000, I am hoping for something along the lines of 700-800 000." The words are said casually, the previous interested buyers bringing out a more direct approach in her, followed by a warm smile.

Her gaze then rests on the blue robed man, still smiling. "Ae'bel it is, I think? We have not been properly introduced. I saw you at the tournament held by the Ebon Blade. I am Adelaide van de Saer."

Adelaide's index finger and thumb of her right hand rub against the paper of the note. "This blade... How did you acquire it?"

Aeb'el would pat the the note as he speaks softy.

"It may come to surprise but a long time ago before my venture to this region of the world, nearby the town of Lusken a ran into a moderately sized bandit party. . . The leader of that very bandit party hand this sword and another in his possession. . . Quite the man of skill in the two sword style especially with this blade and the other, his finesse with them was quite the force to be reckon with. . ."

"Well. . . It would seem it was a bad day for him and his men in stopping me."

[According to Kkrazlite, Aeb'el wears a full face-mask at all times, in all places. I have personally verified this with him.]

The halfling keeps his distance as the masked man returns to speak with the seller. His body language clearly indicates that he is fearful of Aeb'el.

Diam eventually approaches just close enough so that he doesn't have to shout.
"You're some haggler, yes. I'll give you that.." he says to the woman while scratching his sideburn with a plump hand.
"I'll give you five hundred bags for it. Yer not like to find a better offer, or one more sure." The fat little merchant's gaze fixes briefly upon Aeb'el as he speaks the last bit...
"I offer you cold hard coin, not fanciful tales of stolen swords.. I'm also a client of the Bank that runs out of the gate. They can verify that I do indeed have the funds."

He tucks his hands into his waistcoat and awaits her reply with a small grin on his face.
Apparently the slow-kindled courage his race is known for had manifested.
