Reduce the price of Useable Placables.
Hello!
Some time back I had posted in the suggestions thread in an effort to have the price of usable placeables brought down. Having pointed out that in D&D, a candle for instance, is only a few copper, where in game, a 'lit candle' peaceable would run you something like 3-4 hundred gold pieces. And tents and etc.
These items have no monetary value but immense RP value, and are not only grossly overpriced, but things we now also constantly loose to crashes.. So then to enjoy them it doesn't just become the burden of buying them, but then additionally, it comes with the burden too of having to pay to replace them for each and every crash if you wish to continue to enjoy them.
I am writing and reposting, in hopes of rekindling the discussion and possibly seeing a huge and drastic change to the price of these items, as they give the PC no benefit or 'edge' over another in any circumstances, but give the player a much needed, added flavor to RP.

My hope is that we don't see streets of BG lined in candles as a result of someone being bored with an expendable income.

I would enjoy the placables to not dissappear from inventory, just you place it once. Pricing is still high though.

This is a good point. Is there any way we can force a predefined number instance of a specific type of placeable at a given moment? Is there any way we can force a placeable to delete and return before a player leaves a zone?Aspect of Sorrow wrote:My hope is that we don't see streets of BG lined in candles as a result of someone being bored with an expendable income.
Too many placables can make a server unstable and DMs should know it can crash it too. At least it did back in my day.

Yes setting a local int against the player (reset persistency needn't be involved), and yes though maybe a delay action on the automatic dismissal of the object at an interval determined is better than the module iterating through area objects trying to find the placeable due to speed.Eclypticon wrote:This is a good point. Sounds good. I wouldn't mind seeing placables reduced in price then.

Yes I think they are too high as well. I'm all for reducing the price.

I just feel bad for the folks that have them out during a server crash.

This happened to me earlier today. I bought and placed about... twelve signs to announce the CK Storytelling Festival, and then they were all eaten during a crash.ragnarok1983 wrote:I just feel bad for the folks that have them out during a server crash.
So yes, please... make them cheaper and / or persistent!
