Feelings Regarding New Torment Game?

Are you going to play it? I really loved Planescape Torment. This, however, is not based on Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. That is about the only con I can think of other than I don't know a lot about the game. The steam reviews are okay though so far for pre-release.

Probably, definitely not going to buy it though. I'm really glad I didn't pitch in for the kickstarter now. They spent their budget on making the game for consoles as well, something which was never mentioned in the kickstarter, yet was obviously planned from the start. Making the game for consoles automatically means making compromises so that it would be playable there as well, which is a slap in the face to anyone who kickstarted it.

No one on their development team I recognize. I hope them the best though I probably will remain content with my memories. ;)

I'll give it a go when it's released. If nothing else than I've been in a long term numenera campaign and I'm a sucker for crpgs in the style of nwn/bg.

Spiritual successor? No thanks. I fell for that once with Bioshock being the spiritual successor to System Shock and was greatly disappointed.

With it coming to consoles I'm sensing it'll be dumbed down. Divinity original sin is what I'll stick with if I want the BG experience.

I'm a PC gamer and have not owned a console since the game cube and playstation 2. What are some examples of where making multi-platform releases leads to worse PC games because of it?

Some of the best games in history were multi-platform. Most of the trouble I have seen in my limited gaming experience is from bad console ports to PC.

Like most things, I'm waiting on release reviews.

I'll probably own it at some point.

And then never play it. :? If only I had the time to actually play the games I buy.

Quoted for truth. I'm saving up all my free time from this year and next year to play the new Mass Effect game when it comes out. Other than that, my extremely limited play time is mostly spent here.

Maybe.

I really liked the idea of an inspirational sequel to that game. Some time ago I mistakenly thought that it was pillars of eternity that was that game, so I bought it and despite the many good reviews I got bored of it relatively quickly. It has put me on the fence whether to get Numenera or not. I might though, and as others have said, not play it

When you compare the PC exclusive System Shock 2 to the PC and Xbox release of Bioshock, you'll see a very simplified game lacking a lot of depth and features from the predecessor. It was a move to attract the casual gamers which play consoles.

I did not want to like Numeria but then I played the sneak peak and I admit Chris Avelon did a decent job of winning me over again. It is a different philosophical question than Torment Planescape was and it frames it well enough to prove it.

I really enjoyed the Bioshock games but I definitely agree that they were pretty simplistic even for shooters. I just thought the story was original and creepy in the right ways without being oppressively so. My favorite shooter will always remain AVP2. Spent so many hours in those games. Aliens ftw!

Do yourself a favor and get System Shock 2. It is honestly scary to play and there are some graphic mods to make it look up to date.
