I agree with this. For me, it kills "immersion" and seems ridiculous. It would also help with the strain on the server, I think (but I'm no expert on this).

I also agree with this. Would be nice to remove things like protection from evil's blue circle... Meanwhile I like the fact that barkskin/spiderskin/abysal might (really like this one!) change the characters skin to reflect the spell.

Im not a tech guru but wouldnt removing these effects free up server resources as well?

Could we create a set of customized official overrides that do this on varied levels according to the player's needs? I have seen something like this before on another server, but I am not entirely sure if they used overrides or not. All I know is that I have seen different VFX/no VFX used successfully. I think this means this is a client side thing.

If we remove these, we really need an overhaul of the spell status list thingy. At the moment, IMA/Shield/PfE visuals help keep track of your spells, especially in breach happy situations.

they are a lot better than the originals and it would rather suck to get hit with breach and not notice you lost AC, let alone dispel during combat

then i think you are missing the point of the statement
breach gives -no- warning, you just lose things
dispel gives a list sure... in the combat log that is easily flooded and you either have to stop fighting or wait till its over/you die to see what you lost
losing visuals to a spell combination that is +10 AC would suck

Why not remove visual effects then move the dispel/breach list to chat log instead of combat log? That way we can turn off combat logs so it does not get lost in the flurry?

When it rains, as it does, will we get to see the armor affects then? Be a cool visual!
Because it does show in the rain in lore, pnp, cannon, and common sense.

I would be sad to see Shades and Shadow Shield go though ... i love how these two spells look!
